I have read that you can project an 8mm projector image directly to a camera using aerial lenses. There is no projecting, the image goes directly to the camera. I have not been able to get any details on how to construct such a device. I am afraid to try things out without more knowledge because such a bright image could burn out the camera receptor. Anyone have details?

I only know the system that has the projector lens replaced by a micro camera. I don't know if you can do that with any camera or if it works only with special ones.

I had thought of trying his after reading of 35mm aerial image printers that were used to combine animation cells with live action. My trouble was finding a good enough large lens for the imaging.

I would think if the projector uses a halogen reflector lamp replacing this with an LED one of the same diameter and of low power could limit any risk as it wouldn't focus all the light through the projector aperture like a halogen one.

There are Elmo projectors available with a CCD device sitting right on the lens. I think it is called the Elmo TRV.
