Hi I have been very lucky and been given a Eumig 614D by a very kind forum Member from Kent that will be brilliant.

But at some point in the next year I hope to buy a Eumig Mark 8 to suppliment this and for back up as well as I move back to standard 8 for a while.

Can anyone tell me about the Mark 8 machines please. I think they are dual gauge with swapable sprockets etc.

I seem to remember they also can have issues with the drive wheel from the motor, is that sortable please.

Also can you get a larger picture lens for them, or will a 12-30 from a bolex SM8 go in ?

Anyway love any info or chit chat etc on these and if anyone comes accross someone with a really nice used example please drop me a line.

The Super 8 Data Base says the Eumig Mark 8 is a dual-gauge projector, although experience has shown that their information is not always completely accurate.

the mk 8 is dual gauge. it has the same rubber faced drive disk as the earlier sound machines,with the same problems,ie slow running.
its lens is standard 32.5 diameter,so lenses of this size,that don't have a focusing pin,can be used.
it is a silent version of the original mk s sound machine,and uses the a1/215 lamp,very cheap to replace.

Thanks Maurice and David. I`m going a bit backward in film, and hope to pick up a nice Mark 8, Mark M or DL at some point. But sounds as if I had better make it from someone who knows whats what.

I was looking back through other posts re snapped pins etc.

Is it a small round pin or a sqaurer one like in some Eumigs please.

Can the rollers be sorted out OK ? David.

Enjoyed looking at whats what on the Super 8 Database Maurice.

Just out of interest Maurice do you have a bauer t10 ( R, L etc ) I wonder if they have a AC or brushless synchronus motor or usual one. Thanks Mark.

PS the Bolex 18-3 and 18-6 projectors look to be based on the Eumig 614/ 624 etc models but on the super 8 data base the Bolex models are listed as having an asynchronus motor and the Eumig ones a magnetic ( DC brushed ) motor. I wonder if the Bolex,s are brushless or both are as the speed select looks to be mechanical and that suggests brushless.

How does that type of motor differ from a usual asynchronus one then I wonder to.

As I live in a valley a brushed motor affects the neighbours TV, a booster for the small row. I have freesat so does`nt affect that.

So I`ll put a T10 on the lookout list.

That's the 10L... only one I've got.
That kind of motor (same as in the Eumigs) runs at a nominal 3000 rpm on 50hZ mains. It's "asynchronous" because it depends on mains frequency but CAN being varied by a small amount below the synchronous frequency by both mechanical load and by using a triac/thyristor speed control circuit. Should not cause interference

I have a feeling the 614d might be asynchronus too but no info anywhere. It will be absolutely great for my little lad to use and good for a better lens as well.

Got the Eumig 614D and have to say for a dual machine with no sprockets I`m quite impressed and very pleased with it.

Nice steady picture and the film pulls in very smoothly in to the machine, not chattery and on a bit off a bit etc like some can do.

Swing out gate as well. A wonderful kindness through the post and really enjoying it.

While I am on does anyone know please if the Eumig Mark M or Mark 8 have a single thin round pin for the claw or a flat one please.

Also anyone know if the Zeiss Ikon Movielux std 8 little roundey machine has an induction motor please.

Luckily the 614 is so the neighbours TV is safe !!!

Anyone got a Silma 120M std 8 silent machine as that is showing as a brushless motor in those but it might not be. I am arming myself with info to keep an eye out etc.

I am a bit limited having to get one of those but needs must at the moment.

Any other suggestions and anyone tried the small dual gauge bauers. I think they only have one rear sprocket.
