I was just wondering if removing the Elmo GS800 shutter is possible/much work?

I have read about people obtaining a 2 blade shutter, but was also wondering if running it without a shutter at all is possible?

The purpose of a shutter is to provide a "black-out" whilst the film is pulled down the gate, and to let the light go through whilst the film is stationary.
Some 35mm projectors did not have a shutter because they were fitted with a lamp which pulsed.

The late Francis Williams, the Movie Maker and Making Better Movies coumnist, did some experiments in the early 80s, reducing the angle of his Noris projector shutter to maximise light output. he found it possible to do this by a surprising amount especially if you don't project in reverse before image judder appeared. Some toy projectors did without a shutter but the light output was very low.
