Hi all,

My ST-1200 has a problem now.

When playing with 200' reel, it is OK, but 400' it can only play half, and then getting slow, before it stops totally.

Which belt should I replace?

Sounds like mine and Christians ... The long belt haven't got the right tension. I think Christian built in something to fix it. Check the belt tension at least. 1200's were the most difficult for me. Could see 1/4 or so of a movie then it stopped and film was going on to floor

Besides belt tension check the take up reel spindle clutch is set to the correct torque. If not check friction linings for wear and spring setting.

Also, you may have to remove the take up gear with the spring on it. One screw and the gear comes off exposing a cork washer. This gets worn smooth and slips when the reel starts to get film on it. You can either sandpaper the cork on both sides or go to a local auto or hardware store and get some cork material and cut out a new one. This is what I did to mine just this past week end. Now it works great again.

Pat, it seems your solution will work for me. Unfortunately if it comes to technical ferms, I give up. I rather buy another projector and leave this one idle.

But now I am trying to be a tinkers. So couod you take a picture and show me which part is the cork washer you meant.
