The Rodgers & Hammerstein musicals The King and I, Carousel, and The Sound of Music all made it to Super 8 digest prints from Fox and feature length prints from Derann, but Oklahoma! and South Pacific never did. Anyone know why?

South Pacific was planned to be released as a full length feature from Derann but Derek couldn't find a suitable 35mm print to use

He said at a Winchester Film Fayre that the only 35mm print he could get was one with "Fox holes" (the reduced size sprocket holes to allow space for 4 track mag sound) and the labs could not use these.
A TV showing around that times used a US 525/60 copy converted to 625/50 and the bad motion of everything really showed how bad a job had been done, so if the TV company couldn't get a print I'm not surprised Derek couldn't.

Great explanation Brian, thanks for your knowledgeable insight on that. Still a real shame Derek couldn't get his hands on this one, it really would have complimented the pack on these timeless R&H classics.

Yes I have that Pat. It is the There is nothing like a Dame and Honey Bun numbers, both in Scope. Print quality from Derann is excellent and it leaves you wanting more.
I also have the Kansas City extract from Oklahoma! with the incredible dancing of Gene Nelson. Again in scope from Derann, but print quality a little soft and grainy.
Finally, I also have the South Pacific trailer reel, which has snatces of most of the songs. Again in scope and excellent quality from Derann.
That appears to be about all there is of South Pacific and Oklahoma! on super 8. I have redubbed all these in Stereo.
Can't believe Fox never put out a 400ft digest of these great musicals.
