I just got a Sankyo Dualux 2000 projector. Everything is fine except the newly installed lamp doesn't turn on (forward or reverse). Any pointers on how to troubleshoot this problem, greatly appreciated.

I don't know this specific projector but usually the problem assuming you're sure your bulb is working) comes from the bulb holder. Try, very safely (as electricity may always be dangerous), to move gently the bulb to see if it's not an oxydation problem. It may be fixed this way or you may have to replace the bulb holder.

Dom's quite right. I find the best way is to remove the lamp and scrape the oxidation from the two pins carefully with a sharp knife. With the power off replace and remove it a couple of times, waggling it about in the lamp holder as you do so. Replace the bulb firmly. Unless the bulb has blown this will work 9 times out of 10. In extreme cases you will need to change the lamp holder.

You should check the socket to see if power is getting to the lamp. I have found that the contacts in the socket can sometimes get corroded so pushing and pulling the lamp in and out can clean up the connections. If not, you might need to replace the socket.

Try going to http://www.dvds2envy.com and click on tab CXL/CXR to LED. New bulb replacement kit.

Myron...the Sankyo 2000H doesn't use a CXL/CXR bulb...but rather a halogen EFP.
