I've just had in "Fantasia" titles and opening sequence, where the orchestra warms up and the conductor explains what the audience is about to see. It's about 100' colour sound in excellent condition, but as I've never had a copy before, I was wondering how rare it was, any thoughts, it looks like it could be a Derann print (quality is very good), any feedback would help.

I'm afraid it wouldn't help as another U.K. dealer released it a few years back (so I'm told!).

I'll check my copy. I have the Full Length Derann release and I'm pretty sure mine has the intro where the conductor explains what the viewer is about to see.

Didn't C do that one?

Is it poly or acetate, Barry?

Although, as you know, some of the early C releases were essentially produced through D, so even if it is poly it could still be an early C release.

Rob,

I'm almost sure it's a Poly print, but it's now at the bottom of a big pile of films.

From a certain catalogue, circa 2000;

"New in from Germany!!

Introduction To Fantasia - 1 reel col/snd (English)

Many of you have the various musical extracts that were done to this epic - well here is the original titles and introduction by Deems Taylor. Splice in into your bits and you have a great feature - £23.00

Very limited supply..."

So we were right about distributer, but at that time of release could well be polyester prints produced closer to home and with sound by D. [Wink]
