I just picked one of these up on an auction site for less than the price of a pint (about $4) plus a cheap postage charge. It was said to be in working order despite the fact that I found the severed drive belt at the bottom of machine. I would have replaced the belt anyway so no problem. Whilst this projector is dual gauge, it was designed to take Kodak cartridges. The Van Eck Video Services website shows a cartridge similar to an enclosed 400' reel. I found a video on YouTube though showing a much smaller rectangular cassette. Is anyone familiar with this model who can explain this?

I read about it in Movie Maker when it came out. I'll try to find the edition later but I remember that it would take film either in the cartridges or on reels and rewound through the gate like the 501D.

Thanks, Brian. The 510 came out in 1968 and 40,000 were made. I guess the cartridge idea didn't catch on as I've never seen any. It 's similar to the 501 but taller and heavier.

I didn't, Clinton. I couldn't get film to feed through and then found that the claw was broken. On top of that the rotary control was faulty, some parts were missing and there was a problem with the driveshaft, so it's a write-off. I salvaged the lamp and lens though which are worth more than I paid for the projector. I did find a demonstration of one on YouTube though which now seems to have been removed. To load the film, you push the red button forward.

Hi again Will Trenfield,
Did you happen to also salvage from it the standard/normal 8mm hub that clips onto the main reel arm?
I only have the super 8mm attacnment.

Sorry, Clinton, but there was only the Super 8 adaptor with it.
