I've started early with an all super 8 show last night;

Trailer Reel (The Fog, Poltergeist, The Witches of Eastwick, Gremlins)

Tom & Jerry The Flying Sorceress in 'scope - still hilarious [Smile]

The Fog - Derann's fabulous 600ft version in 'scope.

All with top colour still, thank goodness.

What are you guys & gals planning?

Sounds great Rob!

I may run one or two titles I have in tribute for the occasion Rob, but nothing public unfortunately.

It could be either Carrie, Gremlins,Fright or one of the Poltergeist films that I decide upon? I don't really have too much by the way of Horror films among my actual film collection.
These all tend to be on Blu Ray or DVD.
Still love "The Ring" very creepy, "The Grudge" or maybe even "Sinister" to feature both worlds! 😂😂

We are at a wedding reception of all things on Halloween Saturday itself! 😂😂😂

I should do "Night on Bald Mountain/Ave Maria" from Fantasia.

-the beginning is downright hellish, but everything turns out OK in the end!

Steve, I have a custom 600ft horror trailer reel that has Night on Bald Mountain as well as the Ave Maria. I also have a few horror trailers on there as well as a short excerpt from Kurosawa's "Throne of Blood".

I think I will probably watch that on Monday night.

I'm at a definite deficit here: compared to a lot of the films the horror guys collect mine aren't really scary at all!

"-did you see that? The train almost hit Buster Keaton!"

"Wow...that was scary!...and funny!"

Maybe "Cattle Queen of Montana" should be my go-to Halloween feature. At least half the characters wind up dead! Of course it's a Western and they're either shot or tomahawked, and once they're dead they tend to stay that way.

Tonight's show, again all super 8...

Trailer Reel - Predator (booming sound from that Kodak pre-stripe), Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (an absolute stunner of a print from Derann that looks like HD), Cronenberg's The Fly, Aliens (no dialogue and still such a scary trailer even today).

Next up; Vincent - Tim Burton's classic black & white animated short that he made whilst with Disney. Vincent Price narrates the tale of Vincent Malloy, obsessed with all things macabre...chilling and funny and yet another lovely print from Derann.

Finally, The Scars of Dracula - a 600ft version that I made up many years ago by editing a very cheap 400ft version with an also very cheap 400ft Pt. 1 from the 4 x 400ft version!

Spent a day re-editing it many moons ago and another day re-recording the soundtrack from the DVD.

Still absolutely great fun to watch, despite not being great prints and some colour fade...very atmospheric!

Unfortunately I didn't have time to run anything last night - but if I had, it would have been:

Wiene's 'The Cabinet of Dr Caligari' - followed by Murnau's 'Nosferatu'.

I'm afraid I'm strictly old-school!!

Ali.

Good choice, Ali ! I watched Rosemary's Baby I to complete my yesterday's Halloween projection. Hope to be able to make a longer one next year (but I really was tired yesterday).

I set up a translucent screen on my living room window for the trick or treater's to see as they approached my door. Unfortunately only two children came, we don't usually see many. A few adult neighbors came by and where quite fascinated with my projector setup.

On Super 8 with a Bolex 18-5L:
-Bride of Frankenstein with Boris Karloff & Elsa Lanchester - 100' sound version.
-The curse of the Mummy's Tomb - 200' silent
-House of Frankenstein with Boris Karloff - 200' silent
-Dracula with Bela Lugosi - 200' silent

On 8mm using a Viedotronic 8 Repeater Projector:
-Doom fo Dracula with Boris Karloff - 200' silent

The Videotronic 8 plays in a continuous loop. I have room on the reel for another 200' film so I need to start my search for something for next year. The projector allowed me to just leave it running while I did other things, like rewinding the Super 8 movies, so the show didn't have any big gaps.

As we watched the movies I played records including Monster Mash, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Alice Cooper and Black Sabbath.
