I've some projectors that use a CXR 8v 50w (A1/17)bulb. These are now very expensive. A few years back, there was a posting about fitting a cheaper halogen bulb using a QLV-1 bracket. Does anyone stock them in the UK?

Will, you can frequently find them on Ebay in the UK, but you may have to purchase a lot.

Thanks, Janice. The problem is the shipping which costs far more than the goods. Buying 6 is about £30 but the shipping is nearly £56 and there could be customs charges as well. Of course, there's no guarantee that they'll fit all of my machines. They are rated at 125v but, in the UK, our electricity supply is nearly double that so maybe they aren't stocked here for health & safety reasons.

That's actually a function of the transformer within the machine. It divides the line voltage down appropriately to give you the correct lamp voltage. In a country with twice the line voltage, it just divides it twice as much.

So as long as you have your 8V at the socket, the lamp never "knows" the difference.

Thanks, Mark. That site has a shipping estimator but it doesn't work when you enter "United Kingdom" as your country so, maybe, they don't export to here.
