Hello all.
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but was a print ever struck of the original Edison Frankenstein for the 8mm of Super 8 format? (Or even 16?) I was reading up on the film and it appears that people didn't even know this film existed until the 1970s!

I've never heard of it being on super 8 or standard 8mm. You might want to ask the collectors of 9.5MM if it was ever released in that format.

Found print in Montana (2010), of this long-"lost" film - 16mm no doubt

I seem to recall that it was offered by Blackhawk Films. In what formats, I can't recall.

As you'd expect, there are several postings of this film on YouTube. This a link to a HD version with music if you want to see what it was like. Silent films were rarely shown without music provided by a pianist, a band, an orchestra or a cinema organist.

From what I've read, the film was in the possession of a man with the last name of Detlaf. He was described as being a rather strange man who for years tantalized film scholars and collectors by releasing clips of the film and not the entire movie. I believe that it was after Detlafs demise his estate allowed a video company(the name escapes me) to release the film in it's entirety. If BlackHawk ever did release the film on Super 8, it was probably a clip from the film, not the entire movie .
