I have got an almost fool-proof method to digitize super8 sound movies.
I capture the video with my RetroScan Universal unit after adding lead-in and lead-out.
I capture the audio with a Minolta Sound 7000 projector via Audacity software.
Everything is done at 24FPS.
If the timing is not exact, I use the Audacity change speed option on the audio to achieve the correct timing.
Then I use Virtual Dub and combine the two.
Seems to work pretty good.

Gregory,

Sounds great! What is the average length of the films you're digitizing? I would have thought that the Minolta would not be consistent enough to run at the same speed the entire time, necessitating a few seperate audio speed changes in post.

Doug,
All of the films I have played with are either 5 or 7 inch reels.
The speed seems to be consistent and after merging the two files the sync seems good from beginning to end.
Occasionally I get one that was an American film with foreign dubbing, and then it doesn't matter. Makes it look like 'Whats Up Tiger Lily'. LOL
