Hi all,
I make this a new topic even though I mentioned it in the Wolverine thread.
Just wonder if anyone is using the new upgraded Reflecta Super 8+ scanner? I have searched for reviews or user reports of this machine but so far not found any. I think I read somewhere that it should use less compression than the original model.

Hi Kurt,
5 months late, but just thought I'd let you know I have purchased one today, so will let you know. Did you get one in the end?
Kind Regards Mark.

Exactly how this differs from the first (the non-plus) model?
At least it's not priced as high as was the 8 before the (vast) price drops...

Has anyone used the Reflecta? I'm considering one, but at its current price point it would need to be a significant improvement over the lower priced Wolverines etc.

Stuart (and Kurt) I was mistaken.. I purchased the Relecta, not the +.
I will say my Reflecta has been super, with no issues except the rather inconvenient mp4 output.
I have thought about the + version, but I haven't looked seriously as yet.

Looks to me like the Reflecta Scanner is a modified Bell & Howell projector. Is that true?

Probably NOT Bell&Howell mechanics (they don't make that "built to last" thing anymore ).
Although that seems much higher quality than those Wolverine scanner, but at 950 Euro and 0.4 fps scanning speed still doesn't make it an ideal choice.

Not new Bell& Howell, but I wonder if they buy used Bell & Howell's and modify them for film scanning.

Must be all newly-made parts, but with crappy build quality.
I ultimately went DIY route using existing projector as the basis. Found that would yield higher Quality/cost ratio when properly done.

Nantawat that sounds interesting. Would you share more details please? I have around 4000ft of Super 8 that needs digitising, so I want to only do it once!

For years I tried virtually every approach ranging from simplest off-the-wall projection,to this extreme method - projecting directly into the camera's image sensor.
To my surprise, this method really did work. The result is sharp, bright&evenly illuminated. Setting it up is surely time-consuming,but should worth the result.
