I found one Super 8 film that I have been wanting for a very long time:

However it's invisible in the American eBay site. Has anyone ever been able to order to the US from there??

Christian, be aware that the seller says he has no projector to check the film and that it's pinkish.

Merci, Dominique. To be accurate, he seems to be saying that a pink hue is usually present in these types of films.

But I want this film so much that I wouldn't care if the whole thing was green, hehe. I LOVED this movie when I was a kid and it brings me memories of my grandparents who took me to watch it.

Christian, I've "won" (I use the term lightly) a few Italian prints off of eBay Italy. You would be better off if the film you're interested in IS green. Every Italian print I've seen or owned has turned red [Frown]

Well I've managed to contact him but he wants over $50 per film. He has two of the ones I want.

I would feel duped if I paid over $100 just for the shipping, for two possibly pink films.

So if anyone ever runs into this problem, here is how I solved it.

I went to the seller's page on the ebay.it site. In the browser address field I switched .it to .com and even though his listings disappeared, I was able to contact him using the ebay form.

It turns out ebay.it charges a few cents more to have listings appear internationally. Once he changed the settings on his listing I was able to purchase the film.

It should be three weeks to arrive, hopefully it won't be pink!

It's no problem to buy ebay goods only visible on overseas sites, so long as the seller doesn't exclude your country from those he/she will post to. If you're in the site of own country and you put in the item number of the overseas item in the search box, it will still come up and the seller won't have to change any settings.

I'm a bit troubled that there is no tracking number. I've bought CDs and DVDs from Italy before and got no tracking number. Is it just not a thing, there?

Color correction can only be done if there are colors left in the picture. This mostly for a print that the colors are shifting. But for reddish film which is only red color left, you barely can do anything.

You cannot make a B/W to be a color film with color correction,r ight? That is what happening here. [Wink]

I don't know, I've never seen "red film" in my life. I confess this is a new one to me. I thought you guys were talking about the colours fading or something like that. I had no idea film turned red. Even the blacks turn red? Does the whole thing become one long red tape?

Guys, if you can't buy in Italy, I do! But you should not have problems, I buy very often from ebay .de, .co.uk, .com, etc.

I did it for another user, everything went fine, but he paid a very expensive shipping cost.

Christian, there are different possibilities : the colours are fading, the film is pinkish or it's red. You still see the pictures of course but with weak colours or a pink or red dominant. Red is the worse state.

Aaaaaaand....it's red. I haven't projected it yet because it's daytime but I can already see the red hue.

Hopefully the image will be clear and I'll be able to telecine it in black and white.

Any color (reddish, blueish, yellowish) can always be turned to B/W for sure.
