I thought an interesting thread would be to list how many prints you've had that you replaced with one in better condition. Haven't many of us had the experience where we hold onto a print even though it's not in the condition we prefer, then as soon as we find a better one, we sell the old one. Mine are:

The Adventures of Robin Hood
Dodge City
Modern Times

In my case, more than I can easily remember! In at least one or two cases - such as the 600' of 'The Wicked Lady' - it was a third copy that I kept. The trouble is, I sometimes find that you (e.g.) find a print with better colour that's in worse condition, so it's hard to decide which looks best!

A lot of my replaced prints were because of slight flaws like scenes missing , incomplete titles or credits , but most were due to color issues . Also format changes .

I am more a completish collector, i.e happy with whatever I got. If I already have a particular title, my next search is another title.

It is a rarely occasion, I am buying the same title to upgrade unless it is in one big lot.

Too many to list really but when the opportunity came up for a better print I took it,some of the titles were,

Enter the Dragon 4x400
Where Eagles Dare 3x400
Grease 3x400
Superman 3x400
Most of the Elvis features
Jaws 2x400 (that took a while to find an unfaded one)
Great Escape 2x400
Magnificent 7 2x400

Loads more but these are common films that fade,Mark

Like Winbert,I am a completist.Very rarely,or ever, have I bought a second print of a feature.However,I have done it for shorts,not for upgrading but rather for more complete copies.And this goes mainly for short comedies,replacing the one reel condensation for the complete two reeler or,a b/w and/or,silent copy of a cartoon for the color sound one.Of course,all this changes when,very rarely,I have made bulk purchases.

Only one "The Sting" Part 2 and that was because I couldn't be bothered to edit a soundtrack in English to replace the Spanish one on the first one I bought.

Same here, for shorts, I've had to replace L&H and various Blackhawk due to print (and box), but that's me of course - Shorty - same goes with certain Columbia, Castle, T-Bird and other outfits

I will, when possible, replace an old faded optical sound feature with a good one when I can.

My print of "Island of Dr. Moreau" is actually pieces together from the U.S. and the U.K. optical prints, as the U.K. version did have a little extra footage. I'd be more thqn happy with it, (as it's about a 8 or 9 out of 10 color wise), ut it does have this hairline green scratch that runs through the whole film from one of the prints.
