Although I do not post much, I thought I would make the community aware of a little problem with Collectors Club standard 8mm two part films put up on two 200" reels. I have several of these two part releases on standard 8mm, and while the quality is fine, the problem is when you splice the two reels together to create a 400" reel. What you often get is a framing issue where both films have the frame line in a different position! My solution to that ugly problem is to just leave them on their original 200" reels and adjust the framing as needed for each reel. It just looks bad to have them spliced together and have to readjust framing at the splice in the middle of the film!

I stopped buying their Super 8 two parters for the same reason.

I'm happy to hear it is not just me who has had this constant problem over the years with Collector's Club two-parters. What a friggin' headache to have to readjust the framing in the middle of a film! In case anyone is considering buying "Seven Chances" by Buster Keaton on R8 film spanned over several 200" reels by Collector's Club, think again unless you want to ride the framing control during the one hour projection time!!! How, I wonder could they have not been aware of this nasty problem on their releases?

I bought the L&H film' Flying Elephants', put it on one 400ft spool, then had the framing problem, so stopped buying. Towards the end of the companies life, they had their negatives remade and I bought several 400ft L&H, plus the silent feature 'Pony Express', that would have originally been in six parts.

I have many films respooled withe that framing difference when you there is a reel change. Quality (picture or sound) may also vary from one reel to another.
