Just set up my dads old projector and everything seemed to still work amazingly apart from an issue where the chain drive skips and jams the system.

I don’t know the technical terms for each piece but the 2nd chain seems very slack and there also seems to be an area where the chain rubs together.

I’ve filmed this and uploaded it to wetransfer to show what I mean. Any help would be awesome and if anyone happens to have an old manual in pdf format that would be awesome as I’m not 100% sure how to feed the film through.

Regrettably I cannot download your movies, but I have found a photo of the inside of the model 18-9 on Van Eck's site.
There appear to be two long chains and each seem to pass through some form of guides.
My only suggestion is to ask if the old grease has dried up and is causing problems. If so, perhaps a good clean off of the old grease would help. Obviously the chains would have to be re-lubricated.
I must admit that this is the first time I have ever seen such a projector.
Sorry I cannot be of any more help.

Hi, Ben. Your projector was made by Eumig and is based on their Mark 510 model. I have one of each version. The link to your video doesn't work for me either. It could be that the lower chain has come off its guide which would result in the slackness. The picture on the Van Eck site that Maurice mentioned shows how the chain sits in its guide.

That one worked for me, Ben. Is the lower chain seated properly on the upper spindle? It should engage with the first set of sprockets, just like the chain on a bicycle. Apart from that, everything's running the same as mine.

To load a film, open the lamphouse cover and turn the control knob to the first position (marked "M" on mine) to put the machine into forward running mode. Push the threading lever on the top of the projector to its stop and guide the film into the threading opening until it is seized by the threading mechanism. The lever can then be released as the film threads automatically.

Yes it’s all seated but the chain seems really slack and in the first video you can see the chain jumps out of the cog and then it all blocks up

Your second video shows that the lower chain is far too loose. There should be about half an inch between the sides of the chain at the guide. Behind the cable clamp above the motor, the chain should engage with a small sprocket wheel. Has it slipped off the cogs?
