I have two Elmos: ST 1200D and ST 1200HDM. Both have been dormant for several years, and when I fired them up, no lamp action on either. I don't think there's anything wrong with the lamps, but not sure--they were fairly new and worked fine last time I used them. The fuses are fine. I guess I'll get replacements, though that might not be the issue. So: any advice on what else it might be--they power up and run, and sound seems to be fine. ALSO: when buying replacement lamps, is it the same lamp for each machine? (I see separate listings on ebay for lamps for these projectors) AND: they are selling for around $40 a pop. online I see this for $9: OSRAM EFR 64634 HLX 150W 15V MR16 Tungsten Halogen Lamps. That matches the empty box I have for the last lamp I bought. Is that not the same lamp...this dummy would be grateful for any info/advice!

It's quite possible it's the bulb holder that might not be making proper contact,they can corrode or just tarnish,if you slide the bulb in and out a few times the bulb could spring into life,also give the bulb end terminals a clean/scrape.

All models share the same bulb,the $9 or possibly cheaper bulbs will be fine,Mark

This is the UK company where I buy my Elmo lamps. You can see that they are the same which you describe. The UK price (with Tax) is £6.54 UK pounds which equates to about US $8.30.

it is more rare for EFR bulbs, especially Osram to just blow from no use. If it was one bulb i would thing, yes, okay...but both?
I agree with Mark that they may need to be reset in the socket as the contacts may have corroded just enough. If it is both bulb, i will be surprised, but thankfully these are easy and cheap to get(4.99$).

You could also try spraying some contact cleaner inside the bulb sockets. Just a little though! This may clean out any corrosion that has built up inside the sockets over the years.

I agree; the ST bulb contacts are prone to oxidise, so removing the bulb and giving them a clean as Shane suggests will probably sort it (and perhaps the pins on the bulb itself).

Just remember to turn the power off!

This seems to be a common problem with these bulbs. Oxide can build up on the contacts and the bulbs pins if a projector hasn't been used for ages. I bought one on eBay where the seller said that it needed a new bulb. A quick clean as suggested above was all that was needed. The bulbs are cheap enough over here but, per https://www.van-eck.net/itable.php?lang=en&size=0&cat=film&merk=52&type=ST-1200%20D they can last for up to 50 hours. Spend about twice that and some makes are rated at 500 hours.

A scrape of the pins on each bulb and they both work--thanks so much everyone--so nice to have an easy fix!
