Nice job. I enjoyed it as I use the Kodak Sound 8 for my regular 8mm sound films. Nice to see a detailed write up about it. It's a great projector (except for the price of replacement lamps) Thankfully I have a couple spares so I should be alright for a while. Once they are gone I want to do a lamp conversion. Anyway, nice write up!

I would like to see this available to purchase in book form. Standard 8 sound projectors are now very rare and this book would fill a large gap in knowledge.

My first 8mm projector happened to be a sound 8mm projector, although I never had any sound films to watch on it. The Fairchild Cinephonic 8 was the smoothest and quietest running projector I have ever seen. I watched scores and scores of 8mm films from the silent days on it I took out from the Henry Ford Library in Dearborn Michigan. I ended up selling it years later to raise some cash, but now I wish I had kept it. I don't know if any have survived to this day, but maybe worth restoring or at least considering as one of the best 8mm sound projectors.
