I've just watched for the first time my standard 8mm copy of BLOOD DEMON on the Eumig 810D. It's a well-worn print with loads of lines but somehow it seems to fit the film experience.
My copy is the colour release that (I'm guessing) Mountain Films put out (it came in plain white boxes). I think Mountain called it by one of its other names THE PIT AND THE PENDULUM. The edge codes on the film state 'Kodak Safety Film' and the number '189' along with a + and a triangle which I think points to it being film stock from 1973. Any idea what stock this is? The film is faded but it looks OK in some scenes and there's lots of greens left in the print. I wonder what the colour was like on this when it was new?
Anyway, I have a few standard 8mm features and the sound can be so-so on them, but I was really pleased with the sound on this. It was clear and easy to follow the dialogue, and was plenty loud enough with good bass. I'd recommend this film: creepy and atmospheric.
