Anyone own the 2 X 400' Universal 8 release of Animal House? Just ordered a print and in all these years I have never even seen the cut down... anyone have thoughts on how the editing is... and how the color has held up... etc? It's an old favorite of mine so it's strange I never picked up a print over the last forty years!

PS: The seller is not a film collector so he's never actually watched it... so I made sure he accepts returns in case it's faded and scratched...

Hey Brian -
I own a pretty good copy of the 2-parter .

The color is slightly faded ( NOT red )

The sound is very good

And the editing is great for a 34 minute cut-down

It's got most of the iconic scenes - especially the grand finale

One of my all time favs

I hope your print is as good as mine

Have fun watching anyway !

Brian ...

I have run across two of these digest. In both cases, reel 1# has tended to be more faded, with reel 2# holding up fairly well. Also, it would be of interest to you that the re-release trailer for "Animal House" was released on super 8, (as i have it)!

What's really interesting, is that i can't find a copy of it on youtube or elsewhere. it starts out at night with the dean of the college saying that's he's so glad that he got rid of those bad student (with a shot of the "house' coming into a close-up) and then, when it gets close, something crashes thru the window, and then were into great clips from the film.

It runs about two minutes and fortunately, the color has held up well!
