Japanese publishers are always surprising me when they pack items for their buyers. It happens a lot in vinyls collecting scene making Japanese pressing have always been sought after by the world collectors.
Now, I have just found this type of different packing in super 8mm films.
Have you ever seen another title with this type of packing?
cheers,

It is pretty cool...it was posted in the eBay oddities thread last month. I have never seen any others like that. They are asking the moon for it though!

Japan is really a nearly "unknown for us collectors unless, of course, you are resident over there and know just what is available on super 8! It appears, from what I have seen, that they had super 8 optical as well as scope films long before it was ever adopted anywhere else ...
Can Jason, perhaps, verify that?

Yes, Osi they did have Super 8 optical films here quite early.
Even before Super 8, Toei was selling the Toei Talkie 8M that could play standard 8 magnetic and optical films. I have a few optical Regular 8 educational films that were made for elementary and junior high schools here in Japan by Toei.
As far as Super 8 films, I would definitely say that optical Super 8 films are more prevalent that magnetic films here in Japan.
Toei,Fujifilm, and Daiei Film all released features in Scope with optical soundtracks in the 1970s.
