Hello all, new to the forum. I recently decided to bite the bullet and start collecting Super 8 films. I figured I would start by picking up some “medicine” films. By this I mean films that are technically or culturally significant however not always a blast to watch. Usually these are silent films. So I bought Caligari, and Potemkin, and Birth of a Nation. And then I stumbled upon an interesting print, a super 8 color/sound print of Russ Meyer’s Vixen. There are no leaders on the reels, each starts with the countdown. Color is a little faded, but with drive-in fair that kind of adds to the mystique and a filter can probably correct it. But there are no markings saying who released this print. It is in a plain box with a hand typewritten label. I think it may be the original box as it also has two stickers One stating it’s for private home use only and another with the name of the store that sold it. . Does anyone know if this is a legit copy or if this is a bootleg? Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Chuck
Welcome to the forum, I too have a print of VIXEN, mine is 3x600ft reels, like yours mine has no mention of the distributor of lab on the box, Its very sharp and has just a slight fade.
Cheers
Pat

I received a PM from a member who states it may have been released by Thunderbird films. I'm not currently at my house to view the print, but from the photos I received it looks like there is a 1974 date on the countdown. I'm a Russ Meyer fan, and although Vixen isn't my absolute favorite film I'm happy to have it be one of the first films in my collection. Now, if there is a super 8 copy of Faster Pussycat Kill! Kill! floating around out there, that would be awesome.
