It appears to be a very rare camera that could easily be mistaken for a 9.5 Pathe Motocamera. It seems unlikely that was marketed in the UK. A few Pathescope Rex 17.5 silent projectors and 17.5 Talkie projectors exist of course.

Rare, indeed, Paul. This gauge has been banned during WWII by the nazis. A man founded an hidden 17.5 film in the ceiling of his house during works. As he had no projector, he converted a 16 mm one to 17.5 but it took him three years to achieve that. The page telling this story is in French but there are nice pictures : http://vivicinema.blogspot.be/2011/12/le-format-175-mm.html

Thanks Dominique. Although my French is not good I read the story using a surprisingly good translation provided by Google Chrome.

Very nice format, even for troubled history.
Too bad it's so rare, the space impressed on film is very large, the definition is fantastic.
