anyone here knows if I buy 4 reels x 400 + packging(around 1.5 kg) sent to Newcastle UK, will Derann be able to use Royal Mail Standard PArcel (3 days delivery)? I check with their reates it was GBP 4.95.
quote:
LARGE PARCELS ARE SENT VIA UPS. MOST PARCELS FOR THE U.K. ARE SENT UPS FOR NEXT DAY DELIVERY. ANY QUANTITY £8.50
The Derann's policy to use UPS has effected buyers who buys small quantity. GBP 8.5 for 4 reels is to excessive.
Hopefully, Gary will answer from this forum.
cheers

Winbert, I am sure Gary is more qualified than I to answer, but you must remember that £8.95 for next day delivery and also includes packaging and time taken to do it. Also most collectors in the UK require a traceable delivery service and want the films as soon as possible. Yes, Royal Mail Standard parcels is £4.00 cheaper and it should take 3/4 days (sometimes more) but if it goes missing youv'e lost the film, until it finds its way back to the sender via the Royal Mail system. This can take 6/8 weeks in my experience and sometimes never at all! Over to you Gary. Regards Keith

Thanks Keith,
But as you haev known, I am not in UK so delivery time is not my high concern. It will arrive in my country the noext two months, anyway.
That is why, I prefer to take the chepaest cost available.
Wth my experience using Royal Mail, I (am still keeping my fingers crossed) have to say that they are reliable. IF we are afraid the missing parcel, we can add the insurance.
My case is, I am interested with two reels for the total cost GBP 12, but then I have to add GBP 8.50! (which is half more of the films cost).
I don't know if the two reels are sent to Indonesia, will only GBP 4 be charged to me, because Derann also says:
quote:
(overseas) AIR MAIL POST IS USUALLY AROUND 15% OF FILM PRICE, MINIMUM £4.00 MAXIMUM £30, 00
Plus 17.5% reduction for VAT, I am surely will choose to use my Indonesia address.
Please Gary to answer,

Hi Winbert. Two 400ft reels won't weigh 1.5kgs and I would think Derann wouldn't use UPS for that quantity and weight, probably Royal Mail First Class, but Gary will answer that for you. I understand that you have your films shipped from Newcastle, onward to you. As you say, for small consignments, you probably would be just as well having sent direct.
Come on Gary, gives us your comments? Keith

Dear Winbert
Parcels are now sent via UPS only, at a very competitive cost of 8.50 Pounds for a usual next day (UK), insured and trackable service. We ceased using the Royal Mail parcel service many years ago

Gary

Don’t blame you. The service we have had here for business use has been atrocious. Even on a personal note, a year or so ago I ordered a handful of trailers from Classic HC and only a couple remained in a package that had a rough trip to me via Parcel Farce. The packaging service that Derann have chosen is good I can report.
Obviously when we ask for something posting out to us it needs to include packing materials and the staffing costs who have to pack & handle the order, not just the costs of stamps.

I have to agree with the use of UPS for us here in the states. Order paid for on Tuesday the 6th from New York City, order arrived here on Wednesday the 7th! Incredible! Fastest delivery ever. Thanks Gary & Derann!

Gary you have a pm. Thank you
Posted by Winbert Hutahaean (Member # 58) on March 14, 2007, 05:10 AM:
I have sent two emails to Gary regarding possibility to send films to Indonesia He said :
quote:
Dear Winbert
Due to ever increasing postal costs, the 15% arrangement was dropped
We now charge air mail post and packing at at the following cost:-
7.53 Pounds per kilo plus 1.25 (as per rates charged to us). For example, the cost of sending a 1.5 kilo packet would be (7.53 x 1.5)plus 1.25. This rate is applicable to air mail letter post only, with a 2 kilo limit
Regards
Gary
So it is clear now that if sending parcel to overseas will be charged on weight (no longer 15% of the films cost).
cheers,
