I've never been able to figure the guy out. I was in email discussion with him regarding a print a few months ago and he suddenly stopped. Eventually he told me the print was sold. It turned up on his next list. Again, I contacted him- he tells me its just gone. Now it's on his latest list!!!

I get the feeling he doesn't like too many questions.

Or Michael, he simply didn't have it for sale. Some sellers (I am talking in Hong Kong) do this trick (pls read the word of "trick" in positive way) to get more customers.

cheers,

I'm not sure what you mean there, Winbert. You mean he may not have had the print in the first place?

Michael, PM is sent through your blog (as appears on your signature).

Hi.,Buckingham Film Services at least could reply to the e-mails he receives, and what has he to gain by listing films that he does not have.I meet this guy last year when i was over in the the U.K. and i thought he was ok but it seems i was wrong, and to consider that i have already made purchases from him in the past, enough said.

Hi all,
I was speaking to Tony a couple of day's ago, unfortunately the titles I was interested in had gone, but from his comments, I got the impression he was not pleased at the list being on the Forum.
Regards,
Peter.

Technically speaking the list is not on the forum but the link to the list. He may want to take the list down or update it.

Why would he have a problem with the list, or a link to it, being on a collectors forum?

Hi Guys,

On the subject of Buckingham's film list - I emailed Tony about 2 weeks ago asking for a new list and he sent me the current one - I'm now awaiting my print of "Whiskey Galore" - I have to say whenever i've asked about conditions of prints he has answered all emails and phone calls with honest descriptions of print quality.

I am sorry to read all these complaints about Tony Reypert.Tony is the most honest and fair dealer I know. He e-mails his new lists first to subscribers and after a short time, puts it on the BFCC page or sends the printed lists by mail.He works all alone and he travels a lot,so that may be the reason. So, it would be better to subscribe. Also,he may be slow with his e-mails but I simply can't believe the accusations. There must be other reasons ..."for that specific title that appeared three times in the lists etc, etc"

I agree! Tony is a great guy and a few years ago he got me a print of "Alien" Scope Feature. I emailed him a while back about a Cinderella Print he had. It was priced pretty cheaply and he said it was not the Derann version but an import and the quality wasn't as nice as the Derann. Very honest and his prices are very fair.

Best to keep this in context, there have only been two negative comments about Tonys operations and these were both about email exchanges - maybe not Tonys forte? Everyone elses experiences of Buckingham Film Services seem to have been very positive - mine included.

I have mostly dealt with Tony at the BFCC and have always found him an interesting person to chat to and to have films at reasonable prices. It's a shame that he had to close his retail premises as this would have been one of the last surviving cine outlets in the UK.

Good to know he continues to trade by post and on the web.

Mike [Cool]

Mike is correct. Lets not get carried away here.

I've heard nothing but good reports about Tony from other collectors.

My own experience with the particular print I was interested in left me confused as to what he was playing at. Thats all. I suppose if I'd really been that bothered I could've picked up the phone [Smile]

I completely agree lads ...

He is a very reliable and honest seller. Never heard a bad report about him and honestly, the idea that he's do a "
bait and switch" type thing is completely beneath him.

It was my intention to make no further comments on this matter but I feel that after reading the last few posts here that I must defend myself.Having been a film collector for many years ,longer than some of you have been born,I think that a dealer or any one else who lists a item for sale should have the courtesy to reply to any one who has inquired about that item.I could say a lot more however I will leave it at that. Alex.

I'd agree with that Alex. It's a little impolite to just be left hanging. In my experience, usually a seller will get back to you. I've only be ignjored completely once ...

... and I've never bought from that person.

Thank you Osi.

I can only second the arguments for Tony's defence-he's been a great guy to deal with, very friendly & understanding.I have seen him hoe he behaves at Ealing too,& has always been thoughtful of his customers;methinks it's just a bad moment-we all have our bad days & this could have been the case....
