It looks like the person put up some Utube videos that have nothing to do with the quality of the super 8 print. Only the one with the projector shown (a nice one by the way, great little Eumig there!)shows the actual quality, whicvh appears to be brownish.

It seems like a lot of trouble to sell one film with all of those videos, pictures and descriptions. Much of it repeated! The print is supposed to be on Fuji color but, looks like a faded SP or Eastman that maintained some color. Still, a nice item!

Even the first one is not from the seller. This youtube has been uploaded on January 2011.

Please be aware that the seller is in Japan, and the house where the projector is playing does not look like in Japan. So it must be someone else youtube too.

The film is in English. It is mentioned in the listing:

* TALKIE 8mm FILM: Sound & Voice: English (from an original movie)
*** There are Japanese Subtitles in the Film. ***

If you carefully see the close-up photo of the reel when a man with glove is handling it (man...he might think this one was so rare and precious!!), you can read "Made in USA" stamped on the reel.

So I can guess this is only the USUAL Ken Films packed in Japanese artwork for Japan market.

You can also search the similar Star Wars in Japanese (but different art work) posted by JM-T a while back here.

cheers,

It does say "FUJI FILM" in the literature that comes with it, so I'm guessing this is the 400' sound Ken films edit, duped onto Fuji film when the color was still good on the Ken print that was used. Japanese subtitles would have been added during the duping process. Interesting.

Hi,

"FUJI FILM" was also a major distributor in Japan. Of course they've been using their own film-stock for the prints. BTW: Even though Fuji has being using polyester-based stocks for their Single8-films, all (or at least nearly all) Super8-prints are on acetate-based stock...

I'd love this as a collector's item, just for the box, but the price is getting a bit steep!

Joerg, when you refer to most super 8 prints being on acetate, are you refering to Fuji prints?

Once gain, this is going to be a case of "Are you out of your frickin mind?! Bidding.

At least, if on Fuji stock, the print will maintain good color. However, that one quick Utube video with perfect color for the super 8, does not have any subtitles as the description suggests, so that is probably not the actual film either.

Buyer ... beware!

Hi,

Winbert is correct. It should have been "all (or at least nearly all) of Fuji's Super8-prints" in my above text... sorry...

No, not all prints on Fuji stock will maintain their colours. Fuji tend to shift towards purple.

Jean is right. I had an early print by Derann of "Hoppity Goes to Town" from the 70's (remember that neat Derann logo with the city scape behind it?), and the color was definitely turning purplish.

Talking about Star Wars...
Just prior to its launch they broadcast a long doc about the making of the movie on TV which I recorded on Betamax at the time. I wonder if anyone knows if this was ever issued on any other media as its not been included on DVD issues I know of.

Lee : if that is the original 1977 "Making of Star Wars" introduced by C-3PO and R2-D2, yes, it does exist on 16mm.

Thanks Jean.
Don’t think I have ever had the opportunity to view the 16mm issue but my old Beta recording has held up very well considering its age and use. From my fading memory I believe they later issued the 50 minute making of on VHS with a re-recorded commentary but not 100% sure about that.

Here is a little clip from my vintage Beta..All very nostalgic.

Someone buys my Jerry Lweis print for 75.00 (buy it now) and some, well, I really don't want to call them an idiot, (hey, tey may be a member here!) ...

but over 200.00 dollars for what appears to be a 200ft reel, with failing color?

Hey, pass me some of that free cash!

Looking at the buyers category history this looks like it was won by a Star Wars collector, not a film collector.

Cheers
Terry
