That is an unreleased footage, so may have that high price for people who is really Elvis fans or people who is making Elvis vidography and need those kind of footages. This DVD can be advertised with "with never released footage before", and this would attrack more buyers.

Remember Pat, this is a private footage which does not have copyrights, so there is no such risk rather puting copyrighted footage which for 3 minutes alone would cost more than $5000.

Winbert

It says 8mm film. So I'm assuming it's silent and shot by a fan. So I don't think that warrents a 1200.00 price tag. Do you still think so?

Pat

Pat, what I am saying that this footage does not have copyright. So everyone can release this in any form and sell it for money. If someone sell a footage that has copyright it will cost more than $1200 paid to copyright owner.

If someone is planning to make a biography of Elvis on DVD, this is good to be included and add on the DVD cover "never seen before" or sort of.

Silent or sound is not a point in making such DVD because it can be filled with narration or any Elvis tracks (then this is copyrighted but usually cheaper than movie footages).

my 2 cents though,

If the seller had climbed into a time machine and shot three minutes of the crucifiction, it would be priceless. For a brief 8mm home movie (presumably without sound), shot from a seat at a concert, with or without Elvis, the price tag is ridiculous. If it sells, we'll all be furiously scouring our holiday reels in case somebody famous walked past picking their nose.

Alan

That was just to funny! [Smile]

Winbert

I agree with what you are saying. But still disagree on the price. With respect.

I get from a friend some selfmade Elvis concert reels. They are filmed 18 frames/sec. I sold a 600 reel (silent) for 250 Euro to a Elvis collector.
Still I have two 400 reels with sound. The quality is very bad, but they are unique. I´m also waiting for someone who want pay me big $$$ for this.

Here's a thought: maybe buyers of such stuff are relatives of Elvis? Friends and family types collecting for obvious reasons of consolidating memories.

Here's another: perhaps it's a student working on some Elvis related research.

I guess these are unlikely but a minute possibility can't be ruled out.

Something is worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

Bill [Smile]

P.S. I'm not willing to pay $1200 for 3 min of Elvis but there may be someone who is!

We've seen stranger auctions, after all.

Hey, is it just me, or are the prices of Derann prints suddenly going up a little after Derann closed it's doors?

There's no fear right now of running out of Derann features or shorts any time soon.

It might even be Elvis himself wanting to buy it, ' cos lots of
people have seen him.

Looks like someone bought it. Now I'll believe a man can fly.

Too bad it didn't have close-up footage of when the king handed off his jewel encrusted cape to see who the person is/was.

Oemer, how bad is the sound on the 400ft reels? Can you make out the songs and dialogue? Is the footage steady? Is it shot from far back or is it closer?

Well,at the end of the day, when then gnashing of teeth has stopped and the tear stained hankies have dried, console
yourselves boys, that's capitalism in it's purest form and some
fortunate soul has just exploited it and good luck to him.

I wish him well for that sale. People are willing to pay so that's the price. I do not understand, but I'm not a elvis fan. There's no price on things that people will pay for and if you have the goods then sell them at the price they will pay.

Hi David,
I´m sorry, I didn´t read your question earlier.
Again sorry, but I can´t remember the quality, it is about 12-15 years ago as I watched this reels last time. But if I find time, I will screen them again and I try to film a part to post them on youtube. I´m at this time very busy but maybe I can do that in few weeks.
Regards
Oemer
