overseas it would save a lot of wasted time looking film
up on ebay,also i could not ask the question about shipping
because ebay said after asking, seller cannot answer your

I believe that Doug Meltzer can back this up, but I think that there actually was a expected release of "Forbidden Planet" as a scope super 8 release. I think that these were supposed to be Cineavision prints. There were a few test prints made. There would at lkeast be two, as super 8 is printed "back to back" ...

... and from what I understand, at least one of those prints ended up in a collectors hands. Could you verify that Doug?
(or anyone else who might know).

I'm sure I have a 'Film Maker' magazine (somewhere!) that has an advert placed by The Widscreen Centre in London advertising the CinemaScope prints of Forbidden Planet... shame it was never released [Frown]

REGARDING THE EBAY PRINT: I made an attempt last night to make an addendum to the listing stating what is added to the bottom of this message in it's entirety.

I can only say that I am sorry I found this out so late and when I went to add it to the listing that I was bumped out as someone had already bid on the film. Once this happens, they won't let you change anything or add anything. Anyway, my apologies and I hope this reaches anyone interested in the print as it is described. I will also personally contact the listers below. Brian

"THE SELLER ADDED THIS ON MARCH 26TH…I apologize for the timing of this addition to the auction description and any inconvenience this will cause bidders or potential bidders, but I wanted to provide full disclosure on this auction. Having last viewed the film while focusing on taking pictures of it, I didn’t catch a couple of things. Subsequently, after viewing the film one last time with some friends at a friends house tonight, I discovered a couple of issues with the print that I felt important to add to the description. In showing it using a different sound system, the previously mentioned ‘low’ soundtrack produced a hum that was not present on my regular set-up when turned up to an appropriate listening level. The soundtrack is full and rich, just somewhat low. Also, at the end of the film after Robby has a line espressing pleasure at operating the ship, the soundtrack begins to dip in and out for split seconds at a time for the next couple of minutes… resulting in Leslie Nielson’s dialogue having a few words diminished or missing. A ‘difficult to describe’ throbbing sound can be slightly heard at this same time. This seems like it was on the pre-print material but I can only guess. I truly am sorry about not catching this earlier and will make any necessary arrangements through Ebay with active bidders if there is a problem. The screen capture photos still represent the picture quality of the print. I would still say that the print is good to very good considering the above added information when placing a value on it. I paid a good deal more than the opening bid for the print and have enjoyed it for years. It is an extremely rare item and I have been happy to have the print in my collection. So I add this information in order to be totally fair. Thank you, Brian Cook".

Actuallu, I don't think those little issues will hurt your auction and will probably, in fact help it. Beyond that, a great number of times, when a collector will get ahold of a rare title like this, they'll do a re-record of the soundtrack, which means the sound issues become non-issues.
