From Paul' latest list:

quote:
AN AMERICAN IN PARIS 3X400 £69.99. Gene Kelly, Leslie Caron classic MGM musical. This is the very rare Ken Films three parter. They only printed a few of these so is very rare and still has good colour. Boxed with label.
Very rare???? I have two of this three parter at home now.

This is in fact the most often three parter from Ken sold at Ebay apart from "Doctor Zhivago".

The rarest one will be "Time Machine" and "Viva Las Vegas". Tell me if you have seen this title offered at Ebay in 2010 -2011.

ps: I knew they more came often in German released by UFA.

The second rarest (hence very rare) will be "Formula", "Towering Inferno" and "Cincinnati Kid"

The rare ones are "Meteor", "Dirty Dozen" and "Mutiny on the Bounty".

So why Paul as a very long time dealer claims this as a very rare?

pss: the above titles were from different studios such as MGM, 20 Century Fox, but we knew they were printed by Ken Films

Winbert,

I believe the 1200' version of An American in Paris was one of the last MGM cutdowns released by Ken before they concentrated on full length features. The Paul Foster listing is the first time I've seen it for sale since a 1982 Red Fox Catalog mentioned it. I have all the titles you mentioned except for Viva Las Vegas. Many of those titles often pop up on The Reel Image sale lists.

Sorry for my English, I may have misinterpreted your statement above. Did you say that you have never seen "An American in Paris" listed for sale since 1982? [Confused]

In fact I have seen it popped up in Ebay so many times.....!??

Certainly rare here in the UK, only the second one I have had in twenty years, and as Doug says, was one of the last Ken Films printed and did not make so many prints compared to some of the other three parters they did.

A very good site on 8mm and 16mm.

Dear Paul,

As usual, a great list!

Winbert,

Somehow all those ebay listings of the three parter escaped me. I've never seen it listed.

Doug
