I have the full Feature of Star Wars For Sale. I bought this many years ago from Derann and still have the orignal boxes and (white) spools in perfect condition. The film itself had been respooled onto two 1200ft reels.

It has had very little use, probably havnign been screened a maximum of 5 times, mostly on my Sankyo Stereo 800. Once it was respooled onto 1200ft reels it was shown once on my GS 1200 which has had the patent Wilton modification to prevent scratching.

I am going to advertise it on the forums first at an asking price of £900. If it doesn't sell I shall try my luck on the dreaded Ebay.

I have pictures of the film, boxes and spools to upload, but for some reason the forum isn't letting me post them (something to do with incorrect username and password, which is odd [Confused]

).

If anyone is seriously interested I can arrange to do screen shots and email the pictures I already have.

Mike should be applauded for including all four boxes, instead of including only one and getting a high price for the others by selling them individually to collectors deperate for an original box!

Soon after this release first appeared, Derann started using the boxes that they could cram four 600' reels into, so I expect some prints just had the one copy of the artwork.

Derann Marketed STAR WARS in 4 white plain box, with the now classic paper one sheet cover that basically was lossely glued to the tp box (part 1), but Derann's STAR WARS was never (to my best knowledge) marketed with pictures on every box.

Sorry, Osi, but the original print run was sold in the 4 boxes with a colour cover on each box as per Mike's photo.

I was at the BFCC in 1989 when it was released and bought my copy.

All had 4 boxes and colour covers. I had to return one reel and it was replaced with a new reel plus new box and cover...so I have 5 covers!! [Razz]

My print has completely different artwork... don't have a scan handy... but it's more of an action shot of the characters in costumes from the first film (unlike the above artwork). Did they change the artwork for later printing runs?

Me too. I have an early print with the four labelled 600' boxes like Mikes. I also have a 4x600' box with the same artwork issued with a later print.

And I've a print of There's No Business Like Show Business also an early release with five labelled 600' reel boxes. I'm sure this was how Deranns early releases were packaged for some titles... maybe just the FOX titles?

Having said that I've a Lone Wolf print of El Cid and that too is packaged like Mikes copy of Star Wars, with an illustrated label on every 600' box that wraps around the box and approx a third up the back of the box.

Me too, Graham, it really was a great time for super 8.

The BFCC was held at the Waterman's Art Centre in Brentford, London. I was only 18 but the presentation of super 8 was some of the best I've ever seen. Keith and the gang made use of the separate projection booth and the sight of "Fall of the Roman Empire" across a huge 'scope screen in a genuine cinema, made you believe 8mm was capable of anything...truly inspiring stuff.

Guys, it makes me wonder why we need to bother with "original artwork" if it is actually a loose paper that can be easily re-created with today's scanner and color printers.

I am a fans of OB just if it is a cardboard OB or clamshell or the most luxury ones from Marketing. But the later Derann, CHC and Red Fox covers are home made quality which you can make it with almost no different result at all.

I am confused???

Yes! That's my cover... does that represent a certain print run?

As for original artworks... I know Derann didn't do much more than a high quality color copy... but there's something about knowing it's from back in the day that makes it a little more special.

Uhum, it's...well, my home-made cover...

I know a couple of collectors here that I emailed copies to, but quite how it has found it's way onto other prints I just don't know...but then the tinternet is a small world [Smile]

I agree Winbert/ Most of my Derann feaures (and otherwise) do not have thier original covers. About the only time I have kept old covers are those nice clamshell covers for my favorite films from super 8's "golden age".

Damn! It looks like I was gypped on my STAR WARS Derann print covers, (that, or some of them were only marketed with that one sheet label on box 1#, as it appears that Doug's is that way as well). I have the first reel, the one sheet original cover, two plain white boxes, and the final box, which was signed by David Prowse, (Darth Vader) himself.

Another of Deranns multi box labels was "Jason and the
Argonauts" which had four very attractive labels as opposed
to one for "7th Voyage of Sinbad" which was a single 4x600'box.

Wow - so my cover's a fake! I would have never known. Now I'm extra glad I bought an empty box with the artwork from Larry Arpin last week. Now I have a fake one and a real one!

Brian,... I don't see there is "fake" or "real" in terms of Derann cover. I don't think their cover is approved by 20th century fox (or other studios) seeing its quality is so low.

Again I should say that Derann cover is home made quality which you can scan and print a new one or even re-custom with better quality like the one above.

Just fyi, all my TJs are now covered with Derann generic TJ artwork although some are Film Office or Walton, no one can see the different.. [Razz]
