I will continue to ask until my dying day!!

I am looking for a Super 8 optical sound feature print of "The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams", with good color.

It pays to re-mention it constantly as, hey, there are always a few new members on here who might just have it!

Fingers crossed, as always! [Smile]

Well....

It is the season of conventions, with enough alert eyes on tables all over the globe, you never know what will get noticed.

I can imagine myself seeing it at CineSea and saying:

"HEY GUYS!!...."

THere's always the odd print that pops up that keeps you chugging!

For instance, I will soon be getting in the mail (to sell for him) 2X1200ft reels of Beatles shorts, trailer and musical thingies. One of the items is certainly RARE, "Condensed Cream of Beatles" a really mod 1974 mini documentary, running (I think) 14 minutes.

... and the nice thing is that Fred has really kept his prints in darn good shape, so I'm hoping to see better than average color on these, as, where most prints of certain titles have been faded to red, his prints, on the same film stocks, have held up much better, so he must have stored all his prints quite well.

Osi, can I ask how you find the sound on optical prints compared to magnetic sound. When Super 8 optical prints first came out collectors were told the image would be superior, but the magnetic sound was better. Only having 16mm optical prints, I am very happy with the sound.

Osi when will the Beatles film be for sale? I may be interested. And good luck on your search

Pathe Pictorial: Copenhagen.
World On Parade: British Airways In Flight.
Pathe Pictorial: Hollywood.

The picture the last time I watched them was good for the time, the sound was also quite good. I suppose even magnetic sound was not as good as the later releases.

How does fade affect the optical tracks?

I know that both Derann, Powell Films & PM Films had a small number of titles. Mainly Pathe Pics and some trailers. I don't think any features were released, but some cut-downs were.

Did any company release any in America?

Some interesting titles there David.

David, features were released in optical sound for the airplanes companies.

Magnetic soundtracks will always offer a higher fidelity than optical sound on super 8. By the 1980's optical sound on super 8 had certainly improved, but still not up to the quality of mag sound.

What is so enticing about optical sound super 8 is that, to this day, I am still surprised as to what was put out as super 8 optical sound features.

You can't imagine how incredibly happy I was when I found both "A Boy Named Charlie Brown" and "Snoopy Come Home", both as optical; sound super 8's and in the case of these early optical sound prints, the color is absolutely superb!

Except in some rare cases, optical sound prints do have an incredibly high level of sharpness. Derann has reached that level of clarity only a few times, but they have, but super 8 optical sounds prints consistently revealed an incredible sharpness that truly rivaled 16MM.

... if only more of them were printed on low fade film stock, sigh.

Seems a high price to me, though probably quite rare. The colour is still quite good, but if this is Eastman stock, and the seller isn't sure, it will only deteriorate, and in future any seller could only get back a fraction of what they paid. I couldn't sit through any red film.

Seller states EXCELLENT color. [Confused] Guess my i's are failing. Still this could be a chance--------?

For Europe, there is an extra $45.22 for the shipping AND an extra $57.19 for import taxes !

Dominique. I was meaning optical sound features produced for collectors, like Derann & Powell did for shorts.

I have about 10 super 8 airline optical prints. inc "Dr No, "Death On The Nile" "The 39 Steps" I'll do a full list and put here.

The color on that 16mm print looks the same as mine and I do consider it excellent color considering the low budget nature of the production.

Keep the faith, Osi!

Actually, I do need to update my list of super 8 optical prints. These days, I'm doing my best to track down the rarities. It's between 40 and 50 titles on optical sound.

The print is still there, if you want it, you better grab it before it disappears. If you don't have a 16mm projector, for a small investment, you can purchase one. Then you can have your print.

Osi,

It seems to me that you may as well buy this pretty good looking 16mm print, if you want this title badly enough. Should a Super 8 print show up in the future you can always sell this one.
