Adam, Ebay's prices became incredibly high. I noticed that prices at conventions or on some (I wrote "some" on purpose) films dealers lists are much more reasonable.

as much as I dislike e-bay we do unfortunately have to go with the flow. I've received monies for films I could never have dreamt, I've also criticised dealers for using it as there turning there backs on collectors, but, as you see with this very title the sums people seem to be prepared to pay make it difficult not to use it. If you turn your nose up at it you simply miss out, (I think).
In the early days of e-bay I really was anti but as being realistic cuts in you cant avoid it. I will also add I have bought a couple of shorts from a dealer on e-bay but these were at a good fixed price. [Wink]

It's only certain titles that achieve really high prices. The odd B/W feature can go for as little as 20.00 dollars these days, especially with Blackhawk features, as the "market' is saturated with them.

The problem seems to be that some people (with way too much money) dont seem to realise there are dealers out there ,also films turn up on ebay and not on dealers lists ,ive brought lots of films from ebay but only pay what i want if it goes for too much then its not for me ,i would love some of these derann features but its just a dream as cant pay that sort of money for them ,its a shame its gone this way but without ebay some stuff may have never turned up .

If I were a millionaire I'd buy em up and give em away! And then I'd re-open Derann.

I guess it just a question of Supply & Demand.

Osi is totally right, its only certain films that get high prices, compared to the hundreds of features out there.

In Ebay's defence, at least you get the chance to buy a wanted print if you dont mind paying a bit more for it. How many times have you phoned up for a film on a dealers list only to be told "Its gone". This copy of Predator sold for about £387 which I suppose is near normal price for a Schwarzenegger feature these days even from most dealers.

Graham, some dealers are selling the cream of there films on eBay, so if you do pay for lists you wont be getting the full list if you see what I mean, just as well most of them no longer charge for there lists [Wink]
I just took a look on eBay, why are there some dildo's on there with starting prices of £99.00 for 400 footers and the same film is worth around £10-£15 on dealers lists, and they list it over and over again, , un chien andalou is listed again for £199, its 360ft b/w silent, I had this film years ago, 50ft b/w silents listed for 49.99 just pointless and clearly being sold by idiots but, BUT! If people pay this then they are even dumber I guess, most of these films are not supply and demand, there simply listed buy people who are not collectors and the ones who pay it clearly still don't know there are dealers out there so therefore pay way over the odds.

As for the title predator of this thread, I actually thought it would have got more than that bearing in mind how rare this one is now, and its one of the top quality films released by Derann. There's tons of Star Wars features out there yet they often fetch twice as much.

I sold some 200ft black and white standard 8mm films on ebay for £8 each and then the same guy has them on there for £49.99 each he will never get it to be honest if id have known would never have sold to him he has super 8mm 200ft films for over £100 whats the point,i only sold mine cos only do super 8 and got them in a joblot .if i was a millionaire id let you all choose a film and get it released on 8mm and charge just cost and yes buy a lab and open a big shop oh the dream.
