I'm trying to locate a collection of Collectors Club releases on Super 8 which I guess is impossible these days. I already have quite a few on Standard 8. But wondered if the quality would be any better. Or would the only benefit would be the size of the picture?

If so can anyone recommend a good lens for a Specto projector which I will be using to make the picture as big as possible for standard 8. I would probably need a lens that is 12.5mm to make it worth my while.

Cheers!

Robert,

Contact Lee Mannering, as he's told me he has every Collectors Club film released, he'll give you the info on the Super 8 releases.

Robert, not sure if Specto made anything smaller than the 3/4 inch lens, but even that is pushing it in regards to soft focus...I have the 2 inch, 1.5 inch. 1 inch and 3/4 inch Specto lenses, and usually stick with the 1.5 inch for sharpness and light output...

Thanks Deno & Barry both useful replies. I'll contact Lee as I'll be interested in what was released on Super 8. I do remember years ago stumbling across a large collection in the Watermans Art centre that also had a sound stripe.

I was thinking to try and find a lens other then specto made which I have.To see if I could at least get a bigger picture. I thought maybe a Bolex hifi zoom lens would be better both picture wise along with light. Being a 1.3 verses a 1.6.

I've already found that this projector can take up to a 1600 ft reel which is ideal for my purpose.

I would also like to know what cartoons did CC release, especially in their earlier days,as I have all their later catalogues.
I have a number of Felixes and a number of thirties Terrytoons but I would like to know what I am missing.

Hello Robert yes I did complete the CC films and if you look at this thread on here it will give you a good start.
Collectors Club Super 8mm sound films listing with release dates

My own fascination with them started as a child due to the bargain basement price of the films they issued, by my concentration has related to sound films rather than silents. You will usually be able to buy CC films today cheaply so they never break the bank largely due to the quality being variable but some are very good. Good hunting..
