This Jörg Harnischmacher's print is kind like an urban legend for 8mm collectors, I never owned one but curios to know the quality because my bare eyes say it is better than Derann.

Can someone do side by side comparison for the same print (and if can the same scene please) between Derann vs Jörg Harnischmacher?

ps: btw what does mean 4 kanal (channel) stereo written in the can? stereo is always 2 channel, right?

Hi Winbert I guess that 4 kanal - stereo means a dolby surround recording which can have four channel (left, Center, right and surround) recorded on a stereo track...

Spot on, Flavio re the 4 Cjannel thing. And I agree with Winbert: colors are more saturated than those in Derann's edition.

Can someone offer some insight on this Jorg Harnischmacher? From the label on the can, he must have been still in business at least as recently as 1987.

I own both prints of SNOW WHITE and the main difference is,
that the german version (with the original german titles) is darker than the DERANN-version. The english print has more details, especially in the escape through the woods-sequence.
I will try to come up with some pics as soon as possible.

Oliver, you are the right person I meant in my post.

You have both prints so can do side by side comparison of the same title (and most ideally the same scene). I will be happy if you can do this for us.

However from your statement, it seems to me that we cannot justify the print quality from still picture. Indeed, it is my experience in handling still picture if we lower the brightness (hence dark picture) it will enhance the color saturation. This is probably the case when we see the screen shots...however we all understand that we prefer brighter picture when projecting film.

Hi it looks lovely.

On screen shot size I`ve bought films looked superb but when they came you realise the screen shot was made at just say 20-30cm wide across the top, then up at 150cm wide usual viewing its another story. !!!
