Hi All,
We have IW, Phoney Express already in Super 8 colour and sound...the kids love it....
I see there are a few more of these IW cartoons, but I cannot tell from auctions whether they are with sound or not.
Can someone help me know whether I can tell from the auction if they have sound or not, from the box when people do not state in their auctions?

Additionally, If anyone has any super 8 colour/sound copies that they no longer want and are willing to sell...I am sure my kids would be grateful to get a couple more....
Cheers,
Matt
PS: I am also looking for some cartoon reels, those that have been spliced to get more on a reel....I would love a couple reels with at least 3 cartoons in one viewing.... we like things like Mr Magoo, Speedy Gonzales, IW, Popeye, etc... but not really Disney stuff it seems...
PSS: Titles Wanted if they exist in Super 8 colour/sound:
Hyde and Sneak
Phoney Express
Rough and Tumbleweed
Case of Red-Eyed Ruby
Case of Cold Storage Yegg

The last two on your list certainly are available in colour sound Mathew. Maybe some of the others you mentioned are too but I cannot say for certain.

I have Hyde and Sneak super 8/sound/color and Cold Storage on regular 8/sound/color.

Sometimes there is a sticker on the box that says color/sound but if not you really need to ask the seller if they could look at the film and see the brown stripe and color when they look at it. Both my prints OB's have color/sound stickers on them but some may not.

Does anyone have any of the WB Road Runner cartoons?

I used to love them as a kid but are quite hard to find now and I was also wondering how the colour is holding up on them nowadays?

Flintstones are usually good, some are as when they were brand new for colour!

Most of my Hong Kong Phooey's and Scooby Doo's are good also.
Pink Panthers are also doing well from the ones I have.
Top Cats are also good still, some very good as are most other of the Techno prints (Grape Ape etc) that I have but the few Speedy Gonzales prints that I have are fading a little now unfortunately.

Yes, this is normally how I look at the fils, hoping a sticker is on the box...
It seems to be there are three versions of each film, a sound colour version, and a black and white sound version, and a silent BW.....
I think it is probably safest to ask the sellers just in case...

If anyone has any colour/sounds to sell, please let me know...
Cheers,
Matt

Hi Andrew, did you mean Techno Film prints of Road Runner cartoons? I have just run my silent copy of "Wild About Hurry" and it looks pretty much pristine greys look rally grey, no sign of a tint. thanks for reminding me I had it and for the laughs i got watching.

By the way, I get fed up with TV quizzes that ask for the name of the Coyote in these and give the answer "Wile E Coyote" who, of course only appears in Bugs Bunny cartoons and talks. The one in RR doesn't speak and has no name given in the titles - just the cod Latin ones.

Yes Brian, I think all the Road Runner cartoons I had once were Techno prints. It's good to know that the colour is holding up well on these should any colour sound ones become available again to me.

They are great fun! [Razz]

Brian, following the French Wikipédia Vil Coyote in the Bip Bip (the French name of Road Runner) cartoons is supposed to be Wile E. Coyote in English (with E. for Ethelbert). In the Bugs Bunny cartoons, it is supposed to be the same character, with the same name (unlike in the Sam Sheepdog cartoons in which the coyote is Wile E. Coyote's cousin : Ralph Wolf). I don't knoww if it is correct or not as Wikipedia is not always 100 % reliable.

As per the final Castle Films catalog for 1976, the following Inspector Willoughby cartoons were available in super 8 sound and color:
PHONEY EXPRESS
CASE OF THE COLD STORAGE YEGG
HYDE AND SNEAK
ROUGH AND TUMBLEWEED
CASE OF THE RED-EYED RUBY
The Willoughby character appeared in several other Walter Lantz cartoons as a park ranger with Pierre Bear. He was called Ranger Willoughby and it was the same character and voice. HUNGER STRIFE is definitely one. EGG NAPPERS could be another. Both were available from Castle Films as well.
Hope this helps you in your search.

Dominique, I think I must have been confused by the fact that the book Looney Tunes & Merry Melodies always refers to him as The Coyote in Road Runner cartoons. I checked again and under Operation Rabbit it states that three years after his first appearance the Coyote has gained a name (Wile E.)and the ability to talk, so apart from the actual middle name that entry would be proved, after all the authors did watch every Warner Brothers Cartoon. I should have check more thoroughly shouldn't I?

I guess Ethelbert is not a usual name, or is it ?
