I remember when my good friend Keith used the very same line from Snow White for his long awaited Roger Rabbit print.

Anyhow he found it in the end, so there is always hope Osi so long as you ain't expecting LPP quality.

It doesn't seem to be very common as video either.

No, it's quite rare in almost any format. I think the most copies are found on 16MM, but most of those have fade. I did run into one copy on 16MM that had mint color (MAN! Did it look good!), but it was terribly scratched (bad green scratches throughout), so I had to pass on it), but at least it showed just how stellar the color actually was on this originally, I've never even seen a video of this that looked that good. If I could find another 16MM print from that same print run, I'd scoop it up immediately. It was on an Eastman film stock but though it was before LPP, it was certainly the variety of much better Eastman, as it wasn't faded. Colors were incredibly accurate.

Occasionally, a VHS shows up, but you have to really compare and pick carefully, as the original Vestron video (I think it was Vestron), was in the SP mode, while every other video copy after that, was in the LP or worse EP VHS mode.

From past experience having a print is better then nothing in this game. And to be honest with you things compared to 10 years ago, things have drastically changed. I'm now finding more people holding on to their treasured prints in all formats.

Eventually you will find collecting will be like how vinyl is now back in Vogue. I do know that there is a great surge and interest in film thanks to the digital revolution of recent years.

Though as i very well know nothing is impossible if you are prepared to pay the price?

That video (uploaded by various people), is from one source for all of them. Note the "speckling' at the beginning seconds of the film. The same on all videos.

I was stunned at just how much of a difference there was between that really good 16MM I once ran into, and this video, (as I have a DVD copy of this, made from yes, the same video file, but at a higher it rate) ...

The 16MM great colour print was truly miles ahead of that video! I only wish I could give illustrations to that effect for comparison, but that video has very "mushy" and inaccurate colour, to be sure.

I don't quite understand what this comment meant.

As far as my research goes on this film, CBS home entertainment bought the rights to the two seasons, which was unfortunate because they seem to have a reputation of 'not finishing what they start', which seems to be the case with the two seasons that do not seem to be manipulated or digitally enhanced whatsoever, but at least we have something to watch in the meanwhile. The 2 TV films were never purchased, and thus the rights to put these on video have not yet been given, but is this a reason to not want to at least be able to see the film, in whatever condition?
I am thankful for the youtube upload, else I would never be able to see it. Am i missing something here?
Osi, one question. What are your plans for the movie, should you find it on 16mm? Will you keep the movie with the rest of your films for your own viewing, or would you have the copy digital enhanced for others to enjoy? If i was the owner of this film and looking to sell it, this may be one of the caveats I would have for the buyer...

I guess it's sad if YouTube is all you have, although it could be worse!

I'm watching the YouTube "Grizzly" myself, in roughly "200 Foot" segments.

(-just something wrong about watching a feature on a laptop, especially in a single sitting!)

It's a close relative of "When the North Wind Blows", one of my own favorites which I always screen just after Christmas.

So far I like the movie, but would still rather Osi get his print than buy it for myself!

One Objection: Adams finds a lone bear cub and says "Its mother must be dead.".

-Careful: Murphy's Law dictates Momma is just out of sight and once you mess with that cub you are a short, frantic run away from becoming their dinner! [Eek!]

(My years camping Upstate would have me saying something more like "Holy CRAP!, it's a BEAR!")

I finished the YouTube video today: I can see why Osi likes this movie.

It's that basic urge to chuck it all (well...maybe just "some of it") and get back to nature that a lot of people (-particularly minor league outdoorsmen like me...) romanticize but would only accept if it included WiFi and a log cabin with a big screen! (...and maybe a small machine shop.)

-I'd like a print myself someday: just make mine magnetic sound!

Ooof!

To have a magnetic sound super 8 print of this, you would have to come up with a super 8 optical sound print, and add mag stripe to it, and as I have found, trying to find a good color print of this title is like finding a needle in a haystack.

However, if I ever find another 16MM print of this title on very good color stock, I will be sending it to a certain film lab I know to get a few prints struck, but they will be expensive, no doubt ...

Yep! That's how rabid I am about the film. [Big Grin]
