Looking for the trailer for the 1982 film TRON if anyone knows where I could get my hands on one, thanks!
Posted by Andrew Woodcock (Member # 3260) on August 06, 2016, 09:57 AM:
I have a copy of this trailer but it isn't really one I'd be willing to part with unless something more interesting to me were to be offered in exchange for it Ronan.
If you had the 101 promo for example, then i'd consider if it were mint.
Tron is in perfect condition and still has superb colour.
It is also a much longer than average trailer, a little like the 101 trailer reel I speak of above and earlier.
It appears to be on LPP.
As a bonus it is also on pre striped stock and the sound is equally excellent recorded on both main and duplicated on balance track. Both in English.

Sorry Andrew I barely have any prints at all so you go ahead and keep yours! TRON is one of my favourites so I'm hoping to come across one of these at some stage. Does anyone know if TRON: Legacy ever got a trailer print?
Posted by Andrew Woodcock (Member # 3260) on August 07, 2016, 11:43 AM:
Ronan, I will keep in mind it's a favourite of yours.
It is placed in front of a similar themed feature for the time being, but if I can find a suitable replacement, I will offer it up for sale to you.
It's one I like and enjoy, but clearly not to the extent you do!

I had that trailer. Sold it on Ebay a few months ago. Very nice and great quality too! Good luck. They pop up now and again.

Thanks for keeping me in mind Andrew but you're grand! As Alan says, they pop up every now and then so it shouldn't be too hard to find.

if not Ronan, please keep me in mind.
I have had some superb generosity come my way this week and when i get to my lock up, I shall try to dig it out for you on whatever feature it turns up on (memory evades me for now exactly on this one).
As and when I find it, if you are still unsuccessful in your venture, if you PM me your details, I will forward it onto you gratis.

Thanks again Andrew that's very generous, but the great Steve Osborne managed to find one for me! Can't wait to see it!

Congrats Ronan! That was quick! I am hoping Steve will have the same quick luck with the films I have asked him for as well =)

Well done to Steve once again here and congratulations indeed Ronan!
I am very pleased that it has all worked out well for you here.
Now we are both happy chappies! I just hope Evan can soon feel the same hopefully.

I'm not sure, but was the TRON trailer, part of one of Larry Arpin's magneificent 400ft trailer reels, way back in the day?
What's even harder to find, is one of Larry Arpin's trailers reels uncut and in it's original condition, as most people these days, upon buying one, break down the reel into seperate trailers for resale, sadly.
Posted by Andrew Woodcock (Member # 3260) on August 09, 2016, 11:49 AM:
I'm not at all certain the one I have is like that Osi.
From memory, I was fairly sure it had an unspliced lead and tail. I might be remembering this detail incorrectly though perhaps?
I will check it again soon and get back on that one.
Mine by the time I received it, was definitely an individual trailer though, that much I do know for certain.
May have been previously cut though I suppose.

I have the Tron Trailer, this Trailer is on a 400 feet Reel with other Science Fiction Films (Star Trek one and two, Outland, Blade Runner, Mad Max and other)
Posted by Osi Osgood (Member # 424) on August 12, 2016, 11:45 AM:
AHHHH!
That's it, that's one of Larry's trailers reels. I think there might even be a review of that trailer reel in the review section. From what I remember, it was an excellent reel and, in it's 400ft version, VERY hard to come by!

That sounds like a excellent trailer reel!
Posted by Osi Osgood (Member # 424) on August 13, 2016, 12:10 PM:
... and I'm not sure, but i think the mad max trailer was for "The Road Warrior". THAT is one of the few reels that i would pay a decent price for! (have to be in pristine shape though).

The above confirms that there were actually THREE Tron trailer releases! The best one I have is a USA trailer from Jeff Films, which still has great colour. But I also had another one on a 50ft reel that was probably a Derann release of a UK trailer. I'm not sure if I still have this but I recall it was a different trailer and had a short Disney commemorative sequence at the start. I don't have the LA Films release but I expect the trailer on that may well be the same as the Jeff one.

Yes that trailer reel had "The Road Warrior" title for Mad Max, it was the first time I had seen that as an alternative.
I have the reel but edited into a "Programme Start" composite with adverts.
