Good evening to everybody!

I am just start considering to enter in the "Scope" prints world, and I need some advise about which anamorphic lens could work with my Super 8 projector Eumig Mark S807D.

a) Could somebody tell/confirm me if the Sankor 16C or 16F will work? What is the difference between the "C" and the "F"?

b) What about the 2x35mm anamorphic lens (apparently cheaper). Will they fit / work on the Eumig?

c) Is it only necessary to position the lens right in front of the current original projector lens?

Sorry for the "newbie" question (actually I am [Wink]

) and I did some research first, but I did not find any post about anamorphic lens on the same model of projector I have...

The Kowa 8Z (sometimes branded as the Kowa 16H) can be positioned in front of a super 8 projector lens if you have a compatible stand which can be placed in front of your machine.

35mm scope lenses will work just fine. The main problem is the overall size. You will need to build a wooden cradle to support it in front of your main primary flat lens.

You want to put your flat zoom lens to the smallest picture size and simply slide the scope lens in front of the main lens. This works really well and configuration was very easy....in this method related to picture size the term WYSIWYG applies...

* Picture height stays the same - only the width changes between flat and scope.

It also helps to have some sort of screen masking. On purpose you allow the edges of the frame to run on the masking giving a sharp focused edge on your white screen. There are many ways to produce masking and it works well when done.

Dear Chips, thanks a lot for your hint and for the explanatory photos. I believe I will go for the cheaper solution of the 2x35 anamorphic lens (as you propose). But first, I believe I will need to make an upgrade in my projector bulb, as my 807D is the 75W lamp, and I heard that the lens will decrease about 50% of the current screen brightness.

Does anybody here have already changed an Eumig bulb for a more powerful one? If so, please share the results / difficulties with us.

Hi Ed,

I think some Eumig can take 100w (EFP) bulb, the size and pins are the same. In fact I have seen many time Eumig Mark S807D with 100w 12v bulb.

Go to any bulb store, it is plenty available. Look for EFP from Phillips, Sylvania or Osram. It does cost around $8 in Canada.

It says on the Eumig 807 that a 75 W bulb should be used; on the Eumig 810 it is a 100 W bulb. When I got my 807 it had a 100 W bulb in it, so it was operated with it in the past; there is nothing wrong with the projector so it might be possible to use the stronger bulb without harming the equipment.
