These are incredible looking projectors, perhaps the most beautiful looking S8 sound projector, but I think our resident French S8 expert does not have a very high opinion of them. Correct me if I am wrong Jean Marc......

It will be interesting to hear Jean Marc's comments about these machines but I do know they have non standard sound heads. The head width is narrower than that on most other machines which gives rise to lower sound output on commercial films resulting in a low signal to noise ratio. This means that the vol control has to be quite high with the result that noise from the electronics such as hum and hiss etc can be quite audible.

Quirky would be my other description.

i have what i think is the slightly bettter version of this the Stereo 42, but I keep it more as a show piece because the film path is a little sketchy and can scratch....PLUS it weighs an absolute TON!

You want a straight answer...I wouldnt give one of these house room as they are horrible. They scratch, they have non std soundheads, quirky to use and can run very noisy.

Thank you, Kev. That's good enough for me.

I have one and it's a beauty to display, but I will never run any print that I care about through that machine!

Sorry, catching up...

I'll back what Dino et Kev said: film path is a nightmare on all Heurtier machines, even the most recent versions. Machines are noisy, heavy and scratch films. Unless you want a nice conversation piece, collect any single projector available or want something to block your door for highly windy days, avoid Heurtier, except maybe the old Troika if it's permanently set for 9.5.
