To a certain extent I agree with what you guys say about the lamp. What we shouldn't forget however is that the original Toshiba lamp is no longer available. Most of the replacements are made by Superior Quartz in the US and I have to say that although this lamp is very good the Toshiba is slightly better where brightness is concerned. I have both so have been able to make comparisons.
Given that the one sold by Wittners is £275 then maybe £350 would have been a better price for an original unused lamp. Maybe the seller would accept that lower price as his auction is a "Make Best Offer" auction.

You can get the Superior lamp for about $200 (£125) directly from superior. £275 is way too much to pay, even for a Toshiba lamp.

I had that clone made a number of years ago - I borrowed a Toshiba lamp from Ian O'Reilly and sent it to Denny. It's definitely good to support Superior so that they will keep making the lamps we all need...

No Flavio, I am not that man. I bought the spare lamp, not the projector too. In this time I have to refurbish/check/remanufacture too much projectors.
I have: two GS xenon for sale (when I'll complete the check up); one halogen for sale (when I'll complete the check up); and I'm working to a remanufacturing machine.

About the xenon projector, I'm not interested, but there are many guys interested! give a look into the 8mm forum (search it by google: "8mm forum"). But you have to be ready to ship the machine. Don't worry: if you use a double packing the machine will arrive without damages. Without the "ship option" you'll loose a lot of money.

Ugo, lucky me you are here. Taking the advantage of this thread, could you share for me a couple things about re painting GS-1200. As you may have known, I purchased the ugliest GS-1200 (v.3) in the world.

My questions is:

1. What is the correct color for the original GS-1200 body (if you can say name and color code/cat# that will be great)

2. If I want to re-paint the whole body, do I need to remove completely (with sand-paper) the original color?

3. How to save all the panel indicators/writings when I spray the body?

4. Will paint oven technique (usually used for car body painting) make any better?

To find the right color isn't easy.
Until one year ago I used an acrilic spay color, but this kind of paint isn't totally reliable (too much fragile).
Now I'm using a semiprofessional paint, but it needs a compressor and a "spray gun".

This is a metal paint. It's has just a bit more metal inside then the genuine elmo paint, but the result is very good.
To find the right "color tone" needs many test. The elmo projectors have a lot of different greys. The ealier series are a bit darker the latest.
So I use a metal grey base and by some drops of black paint I try to achieve the right color.

About your ugly gs, I don't know what's the best way (I saw the photos). I think you have to remove the old paint, but this by this you will loose the indicators.
when the original paint is not in a very bad state, I paint over; to save the white indicators I put over them a thin layer of grease by a thin brush. When the paint is dry, the part over the grease "pops away"...

The Xenon machines are still in "Elmo factory state".
The cosmetic conditions of both are very good, but the first needs to be disassembled. The power supply was in "short circuit". I fixed the problem when I got the machine, but I want to give a look in the inner parts of the machine to be sure there are not other problems.
For both a two blades shutter is ready, like new capacitors for the recording feature. Of course I'll modify some parts of the loading channel to avoid scratches to the films. One of that xenon is already sold. The other one no, because until to day I had two xenon for sale was a "secret"
The halogen machine is a latest series. One of my friend wants it...
About the remanufactured machine, the job is still, because my real job does not give time for the hobby.
Anyway my idea is to change every electrolitic capacitors (in the main board and in the pre); to remove every potentiometer to clean or to change it; to mount new claw and heads.
About the motors I want to change the brushes. If necessary I'll change the main motor.
Winbert, I gave a look to the photos of your ugly GS. I think will be impossible to save the serigraphies...You have to clean the metal by a sand paper, but to clean the "dirty" parts only is impossible. To obtain a smooth surface you have to remove the whole old paint.
If you are ready to wait for many months, I may repaint the lids for you...
