Is there an acceptable substitution that would fit it?

Hi Herb,
I have used MR16 type lamps to convert many old Bell & Howell projectors like the 456. If you don't mind modifying your projector by mounting a GE-QLV-1 lamp socket, and then popping in an MR16 Halogen or Xenon lamp like an ESD or EZK you can save a lot of money, complete a fun project, and have a better projector set-up with longer life lamps. Also, DJL plug-in modules are available on the internet for those folks that don't want to drill holes in their projectors. Hope this helps, good luck!
