Hi Paul, Great you located a Cresta Vs2000. I note you do not have the instructions- I have mine, if I can scan it Do you want a copy as pdf? I tried to get information on the motor control theory for this model but all information on these seems to be absent from the internet.

Hi Derek, That would be great help to me thank you. I've got a little way towards sorting some of the cables, with getting the sound through the GS inter face to the GS 1200, I've also got the little ESS meter to flicker. I just carn't figure out how the controls on the front of the vs 2000 interact with the GS 1200 pulse sync. What are you using yours for Derek ?, are you linking it up to a GS 1200 too?.

Hi Paul, glad to be of help. I have not used it as yet as these units had a dedicated tape deck which you chose from the supplier at the time. I have got the sync to stabilize from a cresta crystal sync box to a GS1200. The instruction book covers all the possibilities of the inputs and control, with a nice additional book on sound uses. I have a short suppliers list of the makes of decks which were available from cresta already converted.

Hi Derek, so we are certainly on the same wave length here. I got the Elmo DR1 tape to sync pulse to the gs, and a dedicated cable from my canon 1014 xls to the dr1,which can now film with the pulses to match the sound recorded on tape. have the I also have the cresta sprocket master that fits on the side of my Philips reel to reel. Probably a fortune when new, can be used with perf tape and everything else I imagine. The vs2000 is to be used to try and dub English sound onto a feature I bought some time ago. I feel sure we'll be comparing notes. I just love messing with this stuff, even after all this time.

Always wanted the elmo DR1 never found one. I have the SA-1 open spool pick-up, worked very well. Way back in 1991 I made a syncro unit from an article in practical electronics October 1976 which used 9 cmos dil chips to count two pulse lines and compare any difference and adjust one output accordingly. Chips were about 20p each and the dil construction board was £10! My system controlled the motor speed on a cassette recorder with little or no wow. Have scanned Cresta 2000 book if you can PM me.
