Have a mate who acquired one of these splicers & it does a reasonable job of tape splicing but we cannot locate a source for the little rolls of tape that has a series of elongated slots pre-punched for the entire roll.
In use one trims the ends for a neat butt splice & then you pull the tape out dropping it over the film such that the holes come up against the register pins in the sprocket holes. Then you switch the lever to "Tape" & bring the cutting arm back down again which trims off the tape neatly on one edge leaving another piece to fold under the film to attach to the other side.
It looks a bit clunky to use initially but once you have done a couple of splices it is quite easy really.
Does an equal job to the CIR style splicer without the sprocket hole "chads" sometimes getting stuck onto the film in odd spots.
Anyone know of a source for the rolls of tape please???
Ebay search only threw up a couple of the same splicers...One with a couple of rolls of tape.

Thank you people...the Retro8 site looks promising from this part of the world.

I've ordered from both places. Retro 8 are very nice to deal with and the splicing tapes arrived via padded mailer very quickly.
