Super 8mm 400ft colour and sound 1967 episode.
It has the full opening credits and even has that brief part at very beginning "The Avengers In Colour".
It was well edited it think showing all the scenes that make the episode make sense. Its a Derann release and had good colour and good sound.

Excellent 1960's Avengers and I feel lucky to actually own a copy and even better as it was part of a large collection of movies gifted to me by a collector who wanted his collection to go to a fellow collector [Smile]

Hi Clinton,

I have the 3x400ft of this derann release and it's great to see Patrick Macnee and Diana Rigg sparring with the great Peter Cushing. I also have the other 2 Avengers releases that Derann released - The Positive Negative Man - with an early guest role for the great Ray McAnally and finally The Living Dead with a guest spot for Julian Glover. They are all wonderful tongue in cheek stories with plenty of knowing humour for the viewer and it appears that all involved are clearly enjoying themselves.

Hi Tom,

The 3 of my prints have a little fade - but as I bought them all 2nd hand - I'm not really sure what the new prints looked like - but I have to say all of mine are very watchable and have not turned red.

Thats good to hear, we keep looking out for another print, the titles Derann released were of the best.

Regarding the 3x400' editions -- not sure why Derann cut out the "tags" at the end -- barely 2 minutes of footage. I believe they were otherwise complete.

Hi Joseph,

I don't know why Derann edited out the "tags" at the end of the episode. perhaps it was due to the original negative used - maybe somebody with inside knowledge might tell us. Now something our friend Clinton omitted was an actual review. So here goes :

Steed and Emma are called in to investigate the disappearance of a number of scientists who have specialist skills in automation and radio controlled devices. They quickly establish that the culprit is a Cybernaught - which was originally invented by Clement Armstrong - but he is now deceased - killed by one of his own creations - so what's going on. It soon transpires that Steed and Emma's good "friend " - Paul Beresford - wonderfully played by the great Peter Cushing is none other than the brother of Clement Armstrong and blames Steed and Emma for his brothers death - with plenty of fun set pieces and cracking dialogue - the main stars play off each other beautifully. it all ends with Beresford giving Emma a radio controlled watch which turns Emma into a human Cybernaught. There is a highly camp fight in Beresfords secret laboratory and it ends with the watch being put on the Cybernaughts arm and of course it then kills Beresford and Steed and Emma following a jovial quip with each other live on to fight another day. There is slight fade in my copy but the sound is good - a very enjoyable episode - a great souvenir of the late Patrick Macnee and Peter Cushing and also the late Fulton McKay from Porridge. Worth seeking out in the 3x400ft edition.

I don't remember which titles were released (maybe the same titles as on magnetic sound), but there was a number of super 8 optical sound releases of these episodes!

" Department S ", (not unknown to our British members, one of those "Mod 60's" Secret Service type shows), was also available on super 8 optical sound. I had one eposide of that series some time back, and I was amazed as to how good the color was and how pin sharp the image was as well. Truly excellent!

Hi Clinton,

No problem - I have the other two derann releases of the Avengers in 3x400ft - "The Living Dead" and "The Positive Negative Man" - I must do some more reviews of my collection.
