Now this is a great little one reeler from Castle films and still with good colours, i bought this one way way back and for a couple of pounds due to a single line which really is of no bother at all.
The sound is excellent and the music is great.
Directed by Dick Lundy and released in 1947, i found this little bit of info tonight
Overture to William Tell’ is better than the erratic ‘Musical Moments from Chopin‘, the first of the Musical Miniatures. But still it’s only moderately inspired, and pales when compared to that other concert cartoon using the same music by Gioachino Rossini, ‘The Band Concert‘ (1935).

Bill, hope this helps you with a bit more information.

In this Walter Lantz Colour Cartoon (production number 2326), Wally Walrus, masquerading as famed orchestra leader, Sir Wally Walrus, mounts the podium to conduct the orchestra, and his troubles only end when the cartoon does, with the orchestra completely destroyed.

I have a print of this one too on the U8 reissue in a plastic box. I have not seen it in ages and now wonder how the colour looks.

I don't think this one looks bad at all.

The colours are still very good, the trouble with my screenshots are they never show the true colours you see on screen, they always seem to exaggerate reds, i do only use a cheap old digi camera, but generally it is very good, much better than the poet and peasant cartoon i reviewed earlier which is an original castle. Now that print doesn't look too bad, considering the fade properties of Universal 8 prints.

IMDB actually does have this, listed as "The Overture to 'William Tell.'"

I'll be on the lookout for this. Thank you, Tom!!!

It is a very good one Bill, personally i much prefer this one to the poet and peasant for both the music and the much better quality of the image as well as the actual music. I think that horse fly in the closing section is brilliant.
