Dr. Strangelove or: How I learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Bomb 1964 Columbia Pictures
Directed By: Stanley Kubrick
Starring: Peter Sellers, George C. Scott, Sterling Hayden, Keenan Wynn, Slim Pickens

The film is a satirical black comedy dealing with cold war tensions between the United States and The Soviet Union and the events that follow a mentally unstable USAF General's order to launch a First Strike nuclear attack on the Soviets. Peter Sellers is Brilliant, Taking on three main roles in the film:
The President of the United States, Merkin Muffley; Group Captain Lionel Mandrake and The invalid Nuclear War expert Dr. Strangelove. Hayden and Scott are also marvelous in their roles as is Slim Pickens. This is a well crafted film, and though released in the 1960's, it's message has relevance in our current generation. A true classic.
The Super 8mm print I recently acquired came mounted on 1 X 600' and 1 X 1200', but I suspect this feature was originally released by Columbia as 5 X 400'. On B&W acetate, Flat. The image is very sharp, with good contrast. The Blacks are Black and Whites are White. Very good sound reproduction. The only issue I had screening it was where the reel change splices occur, I had to make minor frame adjustments. Overall an Excellent print of an excellent film.

It looks comparable to my 16mm print!

Thanks to all for the comments. Being back in the hobby for just a year now the only way I know what features were released on Super 8 is right here on the forum! When I heard of the availability of this print through a private sale, I had to search the forum to find Doug's
Posts regarding the print to validate there was such a release.

Interesting trivia...
Peter Sellers was originally cast to portray four roles in the film. He was slated to portray Major Kong. During
Film production Sellers was unable to continue due to an ankle injury.
The part was offered to John Wayne but the Duke declined. Kubrick remembered an actor he had seen before , in Brando's
One Eyed Jacks.
While reading the contents of the survival kit, the original line was to mention " Have a pretty good time in Dallas" ..later dubbed Vegas due to the tragedy in Dallas the previous year.
When George C. Scott takes a tumble
To protect "The Big Board", he actually did fall. Kubrick used it...
A Classic from a legendary filmmaker .

I only ever so this advertised by Jef Films. Other were Cat Ballou, Born Free, Gilda (I think) and Emmanuelle
