Sure it can. You can print in anything from the negative leader such as 35mm domestic on 16mm print, estar on acetate, etc.

One of the big problems back in the early 1950s was the multiple edge prints on 35mm which would identify film as both safety and nitrate since one of the elements in the printing chain had been on nitrate base!

Of course if you try and tear your film at the begging of the leader and it doesn't tear easily, then it isn't acetate.

Thanks John. I sold a mylar feature to guy and he says it's not mylar, but acetate instead. Before I listed it I tried the tear test and it was tough to tear a bit off the original leader. Also, I held it up to the light and it had the amber glow. I didn't check the printing on the leaders for acetate or mylar. I will now. [Smile]

If it's Mylar you wont be able to tear it full stop. The only way it will give is if your put a nick in it first.
