So, my new-found 16mm friends, it has come down to this:

I have communicated with both the eBayers advertising these machines, and I am quite satisfied as to their integrity. They both have 100% +ve feedback, so I really need a concensus of opinion.

I intend to bid for one of these projectors, - but which one? Only 4 days left, so I need as much help and input as possible to help me make up my mind. No holds barred!

Thank you in anticipation of a plethora of information.

BTW, to all 8mm members; this is not instead of, but as well as, my indulgence in 8mm!!!

The older st`s can suffer from claw cam wear I beieve though nice and quiet.
The RT`s are more robust and better machines I think.

RTs and their NT heirs are tanks. The can be noisy but they are strong and reliable machines, easy to clean and maintain. Go for it. I've had an NT2 for years (before switching to Elmos) and never had any problem with it.

A) 2 bids at £25 Plus postage £15, finishes first.
B) No bids starts at £50 BUT postage unknown, needs getting price before you bid.

So if either suits you bid on A. if you get it for £50 or under + £15post then you are OK money wise.
If bids go over £50 and still no bids on B, then you will have to decide what your maxium bid would be for either and put that on A. If you fail to get A put your maximum on B.
If you fail to get both wait for the next one to be listed, things are like buses another along in a while.

Do I read it that you are suggesting the ST rather than the RT?

Both Mark and Jean-Marc seem to favour the later RT model as it purports to be more rugged. I just wonder why you seem to be favouring the ST; or am I mis-understanding you? [Confused]

Next thing of course, is to find a 16mm camera. K3s seem to be favourite from what I can make out, but I think I would like an electrically driven one with power zoom - if such an animal exists!!

If you decide one suits you better only bid on that one.

Another thing is to bear in mind is projectors can be up to 50/60 years old. Often people are advised to have 2 or 3 so as to cover breakdowns.

If you don't buy either one, I have an Eiki RT-2 and a Bauer P7.
I also have a couple of 16mm camera's.
The only problem might be the shipping costs.

Bauers are usualy a nice machine not many about in UK.
3 claw pull down, some can have 4 I think.
UK models usally have a 50mm f 1.2 lens, but many for Rank Aldis had a slower lens think f1.6. I've noticed many for sale in Europe have zoom lenses maybe the norm there.

Hans, I might take you up on your offer if things don't work out, but in the meantime, I would be interested in one of the cameras. Could you furnish details, please?

I'm also looking at the 16mm Elmo projector from Canada at the moment, too. - Looks quite nice, though once again, shipping might kill it!!

David, thanks for the info about the Bauer. Both my Super 8 cine cameras are Bauers - superb!

There's also now a couple of my old favourite Ampro models on eBay too...Hmmm??? [Confused]

I'll keep everything in mind.

I just made some pictures from a lot of projectors.
The Bauer P7 TS Universal has a Cineamex Vario-16 1:1.3/35-65mm zoom lens, as wel as a brand new Isco-Göttingen Kiptaron 1.2/50.
It comes in the original Bauer case (very heavy!).

I have mainly Bolex 16mm camera's.
December I tested them all with K40/K25 (just before Kodak's deadline) and they all work fine.
