I have an Eiki Slot Load 2 with a sluggish switch. It's the main switch that starts at the "off" position and turns to the "2" position and then to the "3" position. It is hard to turn from the "off" position to "2". Is there an armature that needs lubricating? Thanks in advance. [Smile]

Dan,

If you have the service manual you'll see that the "switch" is actually a controller that moves several levers and cams as well as rotating a cam which closes some small microswitches.

This sound like sluggish lubrication, but you'll have to slowly operate the switch and watch the action with the back off the projector since this switch controls the gate closing and the loop setting and something could be binding or running into resistance.

Wish there was an easy answer, but you'll have to look at it and see what's not moving freely. Chances are it's not in the shaft or switch cams, but in the linkage. Whatever you do, don't spray the inside with WD-40.

If there is nothing amiss with the parts that are actuated by that switch you may have to clean all the old grease off those parts and re-lube them with new grease.

Cleaning and regreasing might clear up the problem. The most common thing I've found is the follower for the top loop setting roller which runs along a steel bent track which causes the roller to move up and once set drop down. There is a plastic follower and a set screw holding it on a shaft that rotates. That could bind and if it doesn't travel all the way, then the top loop isn't set correctly and the automatic shut down is usually triggered too early.
